Lately I've been seeing a lot of players run from a raged scrake(on suicidal and HoE for whoever is wondering). Its usually either a commando, firebug, or spamming demo, all of which shouldnt even be engaging it in the first place. I do understand that people make mistakes and shoot them by accident.
However, when these players shoot the scrake and wonder why its charging at them, they helplessly run away, looking for the rest of the team to kill it for them. But, what they dont realize is that by the time it takes somebody to shoot the scrake(reloading, not paying attention, out of ammo, etc.), they could be killed. Also, from what i have heard and seen, scrakes do more damage with their swing as opposed to just sticking their chainsaw in your face for a few seconds. What i don't understand is why people do this. Instead of running, they can easily take a few hits while emptying a mag into its face. Now the scrake is dead, you lost about half of your armor/health, and you can go back to helping your team. I dont know if its just me, but running from a scrake just doesn't seem like the brightest idea. |

I'd say it's more of a natural instinct thing. I mean IRL, can you honestly tell me that if an 8 foot tall lunatic who's covered in blood and has chainsaw attached to his arm is chasing after you, you wouldn't feel inclined to run away?
But yes you are right that the swing attack does a lot more damage than the saw through the abdomen attack. So for that reason alone, it is better to just stand still since you'll last longer against the Scrake. And since the Scrake is also standing still now, it's much easier for a Sharpshooter to blow his head off or for a Berserker to come up from behind and stun him. That's why I always tell other players to stand still if the Scrake is chasing them but as you can imagine, not very many of them listen. Last edited by DarkFalz; 06-03-2012 at 04:50 PM. |

With a LAR, I'll have a go, since at least I don't have a 2sec c/d on the weapon. But still, it's dumb. I can possibly see the point in running from the scrake towards a sharpshooter or something, because if he knows you're coming, he can shoot through you to hit the scrake (FF 0% only). But still. |

1 of the main reasons to not run is if the Scrake is stood still the rest of the team can engage on it much easier than if it is moving. This is one of those scenarios where sucking it up and being a man really does pay off.

Most of the new players are getting used to not raging the Scrakes and FPs now, but the inexperience ones using the Demo perk still spam m32 nades at Scrakes lol.

I did this alot to quickly level my demo. 4-5 shots on normal/hard (not purposely ranging ofc).
