I played yesterday evening this map as a tanker.

I had very irritating moments because my tank was very often stuck to a house / building.

Its a good even for infantry. Played as Engineer the most time, i had a blast, destroyed many tanks as possible, and killed a lot of enemies.

My suggestions:

- Increase the map time to at least 30 minutes or more. Its a big map and 20 minutes just seems too short for it. It will help create more epic battles if one side doesn't dominate and capture all the objectives early.
- Increase the reinforcements to go with the time increase (obviously).

Other thoughts.

I really like how this turned out (other than the above) and I was skeptical at first. I was hoping for a new map from TWI instead of a remake. Barashka looks great and it plays out much better than the ROOST version. Its different enough that its almost NOT the same map except where the objectives are. I would also add that I actually like the absence of troop carriers on the map. While the map is big enough to use them, you don't have players/individuals racing off making unrealistic attacks at random places all over the map. Without them the fighting seems a bit more concentrated.

Also, I could go with a tank or two less for each side as I would prefer more players going infantry. However, its not bad as it is now and I know that tankers need some attention and I wouldn't want to take away from them. Just noting I wouldn't complain if the amounts were reduced.

It's a great map, and I'd agree with LordSteve, playing engineer is a hoot.

I've yet to see Allies win though, the best I've seen is for them to hold C and push a bit into the Axis area on the other side of the river. Or delay the inevitable as much as possible as they get pushed back.

I'm actually a bit dissapointed with the map because it's really a performance killer for me. I play on mixed details (textures on high, details on medium and pretty much everything other on low) and I have only about 25FPS max (in the bridge area). When I use the tank scopes, FPS goes sometimes to only 15 All other maps except Spartanovka runs at about 50+ FPS... Many other people on the server were also complaining about performance in this map... I personally think there is too much USELESS objects in this map - for example those big buildings on spawns. And some other objects have too much details - eg. the destroyed hangars and civilian buildings.

BTW I also got stucked with the tank so many times in this map

My sentiments exactly!

Played the map twice yesterday for 4 rounds in total. Both times, Germans won the map within less than 10 minutes. It was PZ 4's turkey shooting Russian infantry as always.

In my eyes, a boring map and it doesn't look good either. I have everything maxed-out graphic wise and it looks cartoonish.

Depends on the teams. I've played a total of 10 times, with Soviets winning 6 and Germans 4.

I haven't played infantry on it yet, but suspect the suggestion of a few less tanks might make it a lot better for the infantry aspect. Though I'd miss the scenes of rolling tank squads.

The problem as an infantry player isn't so much the number of tanks but the lack of cover. There are some really open areas that are fairly suicidal for infantry to be in. You often see infantry cowering in the covered areas, too afraid to approach the objectives. It doesn't help that, like on so many maps, the huts and other buildings are often not enter-able.

Though that said, the level of cover is still far greater than the RO1 version.

But tanking was much more enjoyable so it makes up for it. RO1 version is still better.

I have also FPS problems with this map.
Even Pavlovs runs better than this one. And that runs around 30-ish on medium-high settings.

There are moments of slight choppiness, but it's nothing compared to the Winterwald map when looking at the field.

Perhaps people will learn to use the tanks for moving cover like in some of the urban maps. Yeah, right. Perhaps giving the tank squad leader smoke shells like in Gumrak could help. Those would be useful for crossing the river.

Ro barashka was a map i always enjoyed, although i remember it being less popular with a quite lot of players.
I miss the snow and iced over river personally, but this is a decent looking remake.
I've only tried it with bots to take a look and hopefully it will become more popular.
The addition of some armour should help that - as well as carriers for infantry.

Default not a huge fan of this map...

I never liked the original - even with carriers and this one is as boring as the RO1 version. Not sure why devs chose this map to remake since there are a lot better combined arms maps to select from. I tend to log off from the server when this map shows up.

It's a beautiful map and I think it's better than mamyev, but it's just an Ok map. I do tend to log off servers when they switch to this map(especially when there are more than 1 round) and I do think there are more appealing ro1 maps to be remade.

Carriers, New tanks, and Panzerfausts would really spice up the map.

I think just about every ro1 vet would like to see Leningrad remade for a good combined arms as well as some of thiose other fantasticly large custom tank/troop maps.
