Q1 release date gone from Steam ?

The whole deal with Q1 release being optimal, is it gets put out before summer. Releasing any videogame right before or during summer is a bad idea, due to a lot of people actually being outside and doing stuff. Not everyone is but a lot of people are, and that cuts down on profits big time. The only other option for an optimal release is to do what Actifail does with Call of Failure titles, release right before christmas, which they HAVE to do or they wont make enough money. EA released battlefail: fail company 2 Q1 because they knew they couldn't compete with a rival release of COF series, and then they patched it until it worked.

I am actually impressed this title is being made for computer gamers, by computer gamers, and I hope they remember that computer gamers really hate buying an incomplete product. Whatever the release date, I just would like a finished product on purchase. Sure, add some DLC later, patch's will happen, no matter what you do there will be bugs..ect.
Just DON'T do what EA and ACTIV does, and meets a timeline instead of actually you know, FINISHING THE PRODUCT.

Sorry but they just dug their own grave. They missed the optimal window and are now moving into the worst possible release window.

Flame all you want, but it's the truth.

Can you please explain how you know when they intend to release? They remove the Q1 from Steam and you instantly know when they've moved it back to?

Of course you don't, you are assuming and that's never a good idea. It will be released when it's done and the Devs are satisfied, not when you think it should be, based on your observations of other titles!

Relax and have a beer for gods sake.

Ps. We all know the game has been dead for years anyway, it died on the day they announced the idea :IS2:

Please stop posting on this thread...its already in the "read before post"! :) But really they are missing a really good window for gaming...most of us do a lot more gaming in the winter and are very very busy in the summer not shoveling snow :) I would have to agree...we wont see this game until summer...but that may not be a bad thing...the only concern I have is aging graphics...the game is already pushing the line on being an outdated engine...anyway I am not paying 50 dollars for this game in the summer, I will wait until fall or winter...this is only my thoughts and you can bash me if you want...that is ok :)

This just about makes me cry...:(

Luckily RO has never been about the graphics. It has been and will be about the immersion and gameplay. And those graphics, which by the way are beautifull in my opinion, will do the trick just fine. You know, it

the game is already pushing the line on being an outdated engine...

The most up to date version of the Unreal Engine 3, with around 30 games scheduled to be released using it this year or next (new Batman, new Gears of War, new Mechwarrior, new BioShock, new Mass Effect - you know, some pretty big titles) and you think it's outdated?

What's your basis for that thought exactly? And what are you comparing it to?

Edit : I'm sorry, did you just say that Modern Warfare was "leading the way" in graphics? Now it's not even worth discussing this with you as you're clearly confused.

Somehow I have a hunch this "RO2 has poor graphics" is more due lack of overblown bloom, postprocessing and crapload of other effects which usually makes stuff look pretty awesome and borderline artistic porn in some cases which is pretty common in most games over basic quality of textures, models and some other stuff, basically making it's not icing on a turd but icing on ice.

Yes I know that additional effects can greatly enhance but when I disabled postprocessing off from Gears of War for the sake of checking it out, the game actually looked alot beter than with full postprocessing effects even when you could obviously see some areas of the game were greatly designed with postprocessing in mind.

Like the FAQ says Steam doesn't dictate the release date. I would love for the release date to still be Q1, but its probably going to end up being Q3 or Q4. They aren't even in beta yet I'm fairly certain, and I doubt when they get there its going to be done being tested by Q1 or Q2. I'm really hoping it comes out sometime in summer. I honestly would get a tattoo of John Gibson being exalted on the throne of Valhalla if he released it right now! :IS2::IS2::IS2:

Graphics are only one factor in the game...but i am hoping we can have it all in the near future...unfortunately it seems the games leading the way in graphics are really just silly fun (e.g. Modern Warfare etc) I think they are fun, but are they even close to realistic...NO WAY!

Modern Warfare is using a modified Quake 3 engine. And you call a modified UE3 engine dated? The cod titles have never led the way on the graphical department if you'd ask me :\.

People are just upset because the Q1 has gone from Steam. Imho the GFX and other points of contention are just symptoms of that :)
