Mount & Blade

Bolt said:
Those bastards are patroling near Four way's inn and they are REALLY strong (expect 40 knights). From my experience of fighting dark knights, i can tell that you must have some crossbowmen/archers, which will stand somewhere on the hill, and about 25-30 knights. And almost all of them will die for sure.. :( By the way, i'm using heavy cathapract horse for charging right into the enemy with my lance couched and i'm not dissapointed. :) Good horsie.
Donut, glad that i've helped. :))
I got chased by Batman too! lol Seriously though, how do you use something other than the bow when travelling between towns? I dont want to sell it, but cant figure out how to use a lance or sword instead. Gonna try something, will let you know if it works.

played this game for a while, and still do every now and then.

i cant believe im saying this, but IMO there are too many mods. they just keep popping out, one or two a week, and it got hard to play all of the interesting sounding ones.
they made the game a little to easy to mod for it seems. its a good platform to start with though. or to get into modding easily.

is it still in beta? or is it done?

The Samurai mod sounds like fun, but I am waiting for a good western mod to come out. I saw this video on youtube a while ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL6TvUjwW6w

Don't even bother trying to read the comments:
The guy used a piece of good ol' Morricone as a musical background for his video so instead of concentrating on what is seen in the video the comments are about the song being racist because it supposedly puts "gringos" (supposedly mexican for "white man" although it just means "stranger" as far as I know) over other races... Youtube is one nasty hell hole.
In my humble opinion the song is awesomely cheesy and perfectly captures the fun of westerns btw.

Anyway, I tried the demo of Mount and Blade a while ago but I didn't like it enough to buy it. If a western mod like that one in the vid would be released and playable I'd get it.

I've been playing about the Band of Warriors add-on, it basically adds the Ranger troop tree whose equipment you can choose, eg put a sword and pike into their equipment pool and they will randomly choose either one, the same going for armour and horses, and as they get more experience they get access to more equipment, though because of this the Rangers are more expensive to recruit and keep in your party than other troops.

It also adds more variety in the amount of colours, designs and meshes you get for most equipment as well as making the different armies use a more coherent uniforms styles and colours, which you can also do for your own army, which is quite impressive when you see your army or the enemies line up in matching colours each with sight bits on individuality.

Taleworlds is working on an expansion pack that allows 32 player multiplayer mode and lots new stuff:

For multiplayer, they're also designing an option for players to command divisions that consist of bots.

The expansion pack that should be released this year won't be a free update since the leap from free updates to this massive expansion has been so long.

1) Formations: you'll be able to form lines deeper than two.
2) Morale will affect battles more and your soldiers and enemies will run away when broken.
3) It'll be more difficult to keep soldiers from an enemy faction. For example, if you are a Vaegir and you keep raiding Swadian villages, swadian troops in your party will be more likely to desert and your party morale will be reduced.

*drools*
