After Christmas :: Super Scrake

Dunno why but Maul reminds me of Predator Concrete Jungle , oh wait maybe cause it was a melee weapon of the Predator :D

Also , it'll be damn fun if he runs out of gas and throws the chainsaw at you.

Darkwave [ARG] got his head pinned to a wall by the Mauler
( Whatever is its name)

Ah that would be epic , but it would be unbalanced and may took a long time to do the animations so , It will remain as a suggestion.

PS : Nice job skinning , modelling and making animations. I hope TWI approves this Mini Boss mutator

Keep on the good work lad

No idea when this will be released...were taking it slow cous we want to do this good.

Official site :

http://www.mostimpressive.nl/TheMaul/

If you're really going all-out on this thing, similar to The Brute, might I suggest you scale its size up slightly? Not a lot.

I do realize this would require a new rag doll or else it will shrink upon dying, but I just think if it's a Mini-boss it should be larger in stature than a normal Scrake.

---------------------------------------------------------

If you're open to ideas for Special-Attacks, you could allow The Maul to throw one of his chainsaws, like an Insta-kill crossbow bolt, and have it spawn a new Chainsaw upon ending travel.

Basically, the Maul would replenish the Attack by picking up Chainsaws, whether it be his or one carelessly left on the ground, although he cannot exceed 2 (one on each hand). The reason for making it Insta-Kill would be the fact it has no splash damage, but it would penetrate infinitely ;)

(It would not need infinite travel distance, maybe he can only throw it 10 or 20 feet, just the penetration could in theory kill everyone if they're foolish enough to line up)

Edit: Another idea, rather than throwing the Chainsaws, would be the ability to sling one or both of them outwards like a Yo-Yo, then have it retract back to its locked position.

It's meant to be fought alone (he's meant to be a boss or mini-boss), or possibly with a few specimens to get in the way since he has no ranged attacks.

He's going to have a pretty high sprint speed, and will be heavily armoured, so the fight will not go quickly. If you want to beat him by just filling his body with lead you'd better hope you have a lot of ammo or a firebug and demo on your team.

Nonetheless he'll have (I think) limited stamina and will retreat at certain points, as well as most (if not all) of his attacks being possible to avoid if the player is skilled enough. On the harder difficulties it'll just be a matter of trying to keep up with the intense assaults.

I don't want to create something like the fleshpound where he just does these amazingly powerful unavoidable attacks that kill you in a couple of hits, instead I want something that involves a lot of strategy. The way the design is going, this might be better to replace the Patriarch instead of as a mini-boss, but we'll have to see how it turns out.

^^ goody. This mutator should be a randomized thingy, where occasionally you get the patty and sometimes it spawns this instead - a little variety is the spice of life (or so i'm told. I'm a stubborn man myself, lol).

Yeah, I figure we can all agree that a random boss, whether it be End-Boss or a Mini-Boss, would be much welcome. Keeps us on our toes.

Hello all, first time posting on the forums! I've played the game for about 4 months now, so in spite of being new here on the forums I do know my way around the game! :D (I think!)

Anyways, I was thinking about how this potentially new boss could be triggered as an alternative boss to the patriarch. I don't know if KF has the ability to do what I'm about to explain or not, but I was thinking that this "super-scrake boss" could be triggered due to class combinations being used by the team fighting through the previous wave, wave 10.

What I mean is that it would be good to balance the fight against him if there were a trigger caused by having a percentage of the team being a class that wouldn't be OP against a boss character like this guy. AKA berzerker or support specialist class(es).

Say for example at the end of wave 10 if 33%(1/3) of the team were a berzerker or a support specialist.... or a combination of both but constituting something like 50% of the team together, this alternate boss would be triggered to spawn in the boss wave (wave 11). It would be a nice contrast to the patriarch, because in my experience playing it seems like berzerkers more or less run from the patriarch and or get shot down in the process of trying to get close to him. If the team % explanation is confusing look at it like this:

END OF WAVE 10
Team has 33% berzerkers playing---> alternate boss
Team has 33% support specialists playing---> alternate boss
Team has 50% both berzerkers and support specialists---> alternate boss

I think this could be an interesting idea because of the potential that if all the people in the team were fighting him from long to medium distance he would be a piece of cake, he'd be mowed down potentially before he became much of a threat. I think this is important to keep into consideration for a Zed that is strictly melee and needs to be close to a target to attack it. Since this "super-scrake" has two chainsaws he potentially might be able to do an attack that would hit multiple berzerkers trying to pile up on him.

Just giving my 2 cents on a way to keep the fight balanced! Thanks for reading, and good luck with this idea. I think it has potential! :)
