What would it take for YOU to start playing RO2 again?

I have not played the game since release, I am really disappointed in that it was the game I was raving about and It doesn't draw me in anymore :( Sadly...

I think the maps are really bad and I don't understand the gameplay at all.

The only way I will get back into RO2 is when people start making maps and only if TWI creates a mode where I can plant Dynomite.

Here is why I play BF3, I play BF3 because I like planting, RUSH mode. It excites the hell out of me on trying to sneak in and get a plant, this was what gaming was all about for me. Sure, i have my issues with it; I believe Engineers should only be allowed to plant (I always play engineer).

I'm not going to play the game because it's not there....it lacks substance, bad maps and the gameplay does not suite me at all.

Simple.

Wow.....

You certainly do not understand the gameplay because you can plant as much "dynamite" as you like in the form of satchels, if you choose engineer.

If you want remote detonated explosives you will not find those in RO2.

Lack of substance. I think it's well said.

SPECIFICS CAN BE DIFFER FROM PERSON TO PERSON, IN HIS CASE, it was lack of bomb implant, lack of thrills of rush mode.

Where is the respect for individual opinion we all claim so conviniently just when we need one?
Why double standard?

NOT TO DERAIL THREAD, my disappointment start from unrealistic everything, super prosthetic arms accuracy, all time faster than pro athletes, 2nd bandage magic ride, lack of cutthroat feeling due to above.

Just compare overall feeling of playing games like GRAW2 pc mp, ARMA2 pr, AA3 and ro2.

For me it would take some very serious optimising. I've heard all the excuses for the performance problems, and yes they are excuses, and none of them wash with me. I'm not asking for miracles either.

However I doubt this will happen and I suspect all that will entice many people back is a big free update and discount about a year from now when the average PC is more capable of running the game.

This is all old ground being tread on again and TWI don't seem to be making headway at gaining players and more and more games are being released every week. It looks as if the plan to beat the big shooters to market has done them in and RO2 will only be remembered by a few people as anything other than a huge disappointment.

May all sound like doom and gloom but this really affected my thought process when buying a game. After so many disappointing games I fell for the hype of the last people I expected to get a rushed buggy and poorly performing game from were Tripwire so now that I know they will do that to me too it's put me off spending any money on new games. I'm happy to play a year later.

Ultimately until the performance deficit is fixed no amount of mods or free content is going to get me to take the game out of my 'Beta' category on Steam.

Im luck I guess.. Performance has never been an issue .. just stutters that seem to be connected to artill sounds.

But I have to admit I too was thinking maybe Rising Storm would be an answer to this poor doesnt quite know what it is release..

However it seems to have gone pretty quite there too, I used to love seeing the latest screenshot or news.. And Im not filled with confidence when I read interviews which say the maps are similar sizes and they cant really change from the way the game plays.. I worry its just the exact same experience with a different setting, the video doesnt really give much away.

As for other mods.. I can see mutators helping but has anyone actually got the SDK to compile yet or do anything.

I just find it quite bizarre that with such a tiny playerbase we hear less and less and less from the devs as time goes on.

It doesn't mean I don't understand the gameplay, to me there is no gameplay.

I games on Wolfenstein before an BF series. So my roots go back to some old school classic FPS shooting. For me, my whole thing was about planting dynomite. I will never ever, play a game that made me feel the way RTCW did. That may sound really lame, but it's true. It was utter excitement and the best game I will ever play.

Also, RO2 runs terrible for me...so naturally, I don't want to play it. It's not fun when I should be able to run it and it doesn't run well.

The gameplay is whatever, i'm not into what RO2 has to offer right now, I even pre-paid for the game! What would make appeal to it, is if say Grain Elevator had a shaft I had to blow up, that would require me to play a certain way that I love; being sneaky, being tactical and thrilling when planting the dyno, to me this gaming.

It's that simple, for me at least.

It will take at least one high quality, very large (>1sq km) infantry or combined arms map with a 60 minute length.

This is what I need. I will come back when there are larger infantry maps available. These tiny little boxes we are stuck in are not acceptable to me. Although I'm a great twitch shooter, it's not what makes a game fun for me. I want to play larger, more strategic maps.

For me at this point? Optimization, populated servers, larger maps, the way fatigue/moral works to be adjusted (ie. sprinting has very little effect on aim), and mod/map tools.

I still play maybe 2 or 3 hours a week, but there are times where my game lags out to the point of being unplayable. It gets frusterating. I think right now it's an OK game that I can come back to, but the lack of populated servers and optimization are at the top of my list.

Edit: I'll just add on to this to save some extra space - I do have a slight issue with class limitations as well. I always play rifleman because I live by the philosophy that real men are riflemen. But when I am the only rifleman on my team of 16+ players there is definitely something very wrong there.

I know for a fact that the bolt-action rifle is not superior in almost any aspect, but I would really like to see a rifleman-to-special class percentage required in most servers. I've joked around with my friends watching me before, I picked up an SMG class for the first time today for sh**s and giggles. With a rifle I averaged 1-2 kills per death. I was immediately getting 3-4 kills per death and not playing tactically at all. Literally shooting bullets down hallways and across buildings getting kills. I'm not knocking on people who use the SMG class a lot, but the fact that there is the ability to have over half the team with these superior weapons is a little ridiculous. These weapons should be used as strategic weapons that need to move around where they are needed, not the weapons people race for and nearly everyone has.

I really think this is an issue because of the lack of players though. So few people are on the servers there is room for everyone to pick a specialist class. I feel like I am playing some special forces version of ww2. Though, like I've said, there is nothing quite like RO2 and I still play it casually to get my fix. I'm really looking forward to more patches and updates - I really do hope the best for the game.

I would love this also. So something like there had to be 3 Riflemen before Elite would open and 6 before Assault would open or something like that anyway. Just less machine guns everywhere or go back to making them impossible for anyone except the people from the Matrix to use, like they were in RO1.

I'm wondering what it would take for TWI to get people into the game again. Obviously most people, whether they play or not, don't actually use this forum. It would still be interesting at least to get a cross section of opinions.

TWI can send my girlfriend on vacation with her girlfriends...
I will be a dedicated RO2 player for weeks.
Also if they can send me the equivalent of my work salary :D... would help me log even more hours.
