Constant crashes since last patch

Getting extreme amount of crashes since last patch. Can sometimes get on a server for a minute or so, sometimes it just crashes while browsing servers or just starting up at the main menu.

Have had very few crashes in the previous patch.

Have you tried removing the game from your firewall's exception list and adding it again. Sometimes security software can become a ***** after updating a program.

Sometimes when steam stuff is being hammered games for some reason start to crash. Try disabling the steamoverlay for a bit and make sure that the server you join isn't an old server.

Just crashed (again) as well. Overall performance seems to have dropped as well, though I don't know if it's just the maps. Had to turn down some stuff to achieve the same FPS again.

Same problems here.
Last patch I had a few crashes, one every couple hours or so..now it's every 2-5 minutes.
Only map I've been able to play is Barracks..which is pretty good other than massive FPS issues that I didn't have on the old maps.

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
8GB G-skill Ripjaws DDR3 Ram
ATI Radeon 4890 HD

It's not a bad/old hardware issue.


Game went from highly enjoyable to literally unplayable. Guess I'm going to go have to play Tropico 4 until something gets worked out. :p

Try the following:

  1. Start the game
  2. alt+tab out of the game
  3. hit alt+control+delete
  4. go to task manager
  5. right click on RO2
  6. go to set affinity
  7. untick one of your cpu cores (just to be sure untick all hyperthreading cores as well like all even or uneven cores).

Do this as well
  1. open steam
  2. right click on the ro2 beta
  3. click properties
  4. go to local files
  5. click on verify integrity of the game cache

Another thing to try:
1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type in DXDIAG into the available text field, and press OK.
4. Once the DirectX Diagnostic tool has loaded, click on the Sound tab.
(a). This tab will show you your sound device and drivers.
(b). Warning: Should this tab be blank, refer to your computer manufacturer for the proper sound drivers.
5. In the DirectX Features section, adjust the slide bar from where it is currently to Basic acceleration.
(a). Warning: This may disable advanced audio features which worked previously in other games. Should you notice a negative change in any other game, simply change the acceleration level back to where it was or to Full Acceleration.
6. Click the Exit button.
7. Start your game, and verify that the game now works properly.

For some reason performance went up (without those fixes) after I turned up lighting and AA...(was just too ugly without) totally stumped as to why, nothing else has changed. I don't have that acceleration tab even though I have installed the proper drivers (Realtek Alc883).

Edit: btw setting the affinity to only one core cut my fps in half. :p

Same issue for me. Game worked great before this patch - played for around 6 hours the first day I got it without so much as a single crash. Alt tabbed like mad, too.

Today, after the patch, it's crashing every few minutes - sometimes immediately after getting into a server and picking a class - without any kind of pattern or repeated behavior causing it. It's crashed on the class selection screen, while running around, while being shot at, while shooting, right as artillery hit - everything.

Seems that explosions may be related. A friend dropped artillery near me as a test, and it crashed shortly after he fired it off. I didn't even see or hear an explosion or falling shell before I crashed, but it was about 10 seconds after he called it in that it actually crashed, so it seems related.

One of the previous crashes was right after artillery as well.
