[Game] Brink

Looks interesting I must admit, although I came up with a question watching this, how are they gonna handle firing your weapon while sliding/jumping etc. since it will be a big part of the game doing moves like that. It seems pretty fluid in the trailer but I would really like to try it myself first. Oh and the sounds of the weapons are kinda strange...

I'd lol if BRINK would have problems with bugs. ;)

maybe - but judging by previous efforts splash damage do things right.
ETQW is near perfect and achieved what it set out to do more effectivly than any other game i can think of off hand. It's polished and well executed - the thought that went into every detail is astounding - and ID 4 engine is sound in my book.

For this reason i am reasonably optimistic about brink.

And to Drakon - yeah you do want to be playing ETQW, it still has a committed following and there's a lot more to it than first meets the eye.

It's only mistake was releasing the same week as TF2.

^^ good article about how they will balance Brink.
Basicly, they will observe how players behave and perform on the servers, and tweak "on the fly", sortof.
No patches, but simple text-files, that can be updated in 1 evening, and automatically spread over the clients.
Core game-files aren't touched :)

I've played ETQW since the demo - and still do.
The way the game is balanced right now, gets everything out of a good player.
Skills are always supported by upgrades, not the other way around.
ETQW promotes teamplay like no other game I've seen.
Even without anyone talking (chat, or voip), players find the right thing to do, to win the objective and the match.

The way Brink ties classes to the maps, means the objective for everyone is clear from start.
No matter if you change class mid-game.

You can choose to use your level-up points to enhance a specialism...or use them, to improve your general non-class dependant abilities.

One Brink-ability in particular, reminds me of ETQW....the hacking.
In ETQW, an Infiltrator/Covert Ops can hack an enemy object, let's say an AP-turret...and pause it for a while (1 hack), or disable it (double hack).
In Brink, a player can hack the turret, but not only that, the turret also becomes friendly, so it's re-programmed. :p

Heh, that's still pathcing, the code is just much easier to swap out than if it had been bundled in larger combined packets.
Small downloads for us, not all the compiling and decompiling for the Dev's, it sounds very conveniant, but it is still patching ;)

No need to thank me Citizen, I, Captain Pedantic Douchenozzle, am just here to help! AND AWAY I GO! *swooosh*
