Default Small Meaningful Request

I ask a very small thing but yet nice and quite useful thing regarding voice chat:
when somebody is talking let a small megaphone appear near his 3d name so that if he is close to you and for example wants to refer to nearby allies you know who is talking on radio and dont just hear random BLAH BLAH without understanding anything of what they say.

Note: I do not ask for 3d positional voip as many did before, not because I do not want it but because it would be a worthless effort and I guess it will never be done. So, even though we dont have it, this way comms should be slightly simplier.
Side Note: Someone might find this useless since if you hear somebody talking, he is near you and his name talking appears on left of screen you should theorically see it. In fact, I do, but seems like most people dont care about that while shooting, and this COULD actually give greater awareness. Dont trash idea so fast please.

This would be a nice addition. Although I would actually prefer 3d positional VOIP, thats actually one of the things I did enjoy about the ArmA series. This would be a nice accord I suppose. Wasn't there a similar system in Resistance and Liberation? I can't recall. This could definetly help the coordination in-game though! Good suggestion.

-EDIT-

It was in R&L. I found a video that shows it pretty clearly, just a small speaker icon above who's talking. That's how I'd expect it to look in RO2

That would be a great feature. I'm guessing it wouldn't be that hard to implement either would it?

This feature was in Darkest Hour and was great for team cohesion.

This sounds like a great idea. We also have the squad system as well but unfortunately no one really uses. There is squad chat and fire teams as well as spawning on SL and MG. In theory it seems to work really well, but they decided to use the CLASS page as the first thing people see after they select team instead of squad. Now, everyone just chooses a class and randomly joins a squad and no one knows a squad system exists.

Yep. And weird thing I see is that people can normally spawn just on squad leader. Only on custom maps I had the chance to spawn near machinegunner, otherwise this option is invisible....

You have to be on fireteam 3 (LMG Team) to spawn on machine gunner. Its concepts like these that are very unknown to players.

Bump.

Since RS will come out quite soon I think that this idea should be implemented before release. Would be easier to coordinate banzai charges for axis and defence positions for allies.

Could it be put on the worklist among the tweaks and fixes? Thanks.

Yeah, this is a major pet peave of mine...why is the class screen even in the game? The squad screen serves the purposes of both. A set up like America's Army would have worked much better, where the squad screen and the scoreboard are combined into one screen...it shows each player's score next to their position in their squad, and at the beginning of the game or any any other time, when you want to change roles, you just double click on an empty slot on the scoreboard.

The lack of 3D VOIP is also a horrible oversight.

I bumped it for a simple reason. There is a good degree of teamwork in RS that RO2 didn't have but this should definitely help it progress...especially when it comes to banzai charges.
Any TW here?

This could help a lot, considering it can be hard sometimes to know what place a player is referring to ...

"Enemy on the right!"
"In that building!"
"Next to the building!"
"Behind that wall!"

It all depends on where the speaker is, as to what he is referring to, so any help in understanding would be nice!

Exactly, since it takes time to see in the screen corner and associate the name to the guy talking in front of you.
