How does the FarCry 3 system look in third person? Are there cases where your head pops over cover and gets shot off too? Is the system very finicky in that you have to position yourself exactly and aim exactly the right way to use? Can you chose to aim OVER an object when at the side (rather than going around the side)?

Also, I LIKE peeking using the RO2 system, don't take that away from me. :<

A lot of people don't realize how useful it is. I remember comparing the various look/shoot over/around cover animations, and the peeking animation barely exposes anything. Half your head or less, usually. At long range, you probably wouldn't even see it. It's great for looking around without being shot (Unless you're peeking around thin cover, of course...).

After reviewing the OP video, I think the optimal implementation for any FPS would be an "auto cover" option like FC3, disableable via a single checkbox in the GUI, plus a Ravenshield-style Fluid Stance operable via an analog input such as Track IR, Razer Hydra, gamepad analog stick while holding a button, or mouse while holding a button. Obviously, the mouse is the last resort since it prohibits you from leaning and aiming 100% simultaneously.

Back to the FC3 cover system, it seems like a "peek" button would be nice, in order to quickly peer over cover without obscuring your view with the irons, or accidentally blind firing w/ the fire key.

Unless I am wrong (and I am never wrong), RO2 already lets you peak by either holding down Forward or Strafe keys (depending on what you're covering behind).

I guess that would work, since the FC3 system only engages when you're pressed up against a wall. I just think there needs to be a clear difference between peeking up just your head (fast, small profile, no shooting) vs peaking up your head + rifle (slow, large profile, ready to shoot). In real life (re: paintball, laser tag) is much faster and very useful, yet most games force you to poke your head + shoulders + possibly a leg out of cover in order to get basic situational awareness.
