Its only natural that we who have put money and time into ro2 want it to improve.....The game has so much potential and most of us, want to see that potential achieved. The game is not perfect and many will not be satisfied ever..

Unfortunately, TWI has decided to suspend work on RO2 to work on RS. Basically they have made their money on RO2 and are now chasing more dollars....Will, they ever put the time in to make RO2 the perfect game? Their Past track record says they will try, but at this point its all about the $$...They alone decide when and if they will work on RO2 much to our disappointment.

At this point, we as a community are lucky to have some dedicated mappers and modders working to fill the gap. How long they hang in depends on their treatment by TWI (ie. whitelisting,fairness of map contest,etc). Personally, if it wasnt for the custom mappers, i would already be playing another game. They are the only ones keeping the game fresh for me.

As for TWI, they are walking a tightrope as to whether they can get any content out versus how long people are willing to hang around waiting. Only time will tell which way it falls. However, their execution surrounding all things RO2 thus far no longer inspires confidence.

All we can really do is hope...Some will scream, whine, and complain but it only makes them look rather foolish. TWI will do what it wants to do.

Ridiculous. People play the game the way they can be effective and have fun. If they can have fun without bothering with the squad system, they will. This makes the squad system useless and attracts the kind of people who don't care about teamplay. You may think nothing of it, I think they would be better off playing a different game. Because really, at this point there isn't much difference between RO and other mainstream shooters. And playercounts show it.

Your rabid elitism is showing, might wanna zip up I also think there's a certain group of people here that should be playing a different game (not that said group even bothers playing RO anymore), but I'll bet you we're not talking about the same group. hint hint

Also nice to see you completely ignore the fact that Ro1 had no squad system at all, and that team work in pubs then are about the same level as we have now.

While TWI may be focusing on RS, except for perhaps time spent away from content, who is to say that game mechanics aren't being worked out as well?

In some thread, somewhere, I recall Yoshiro(?) saying something to the effect that some fixes would be included when RS was released. As the fixes required a sizeable download, they would be lumped into the RS release. (To help those poor souls with data caps).

But alas, perhaps I am remembering it wrong or mis-understood the post. Thats quite possible as I seem to do that all the time ....

It's just you who is ridiculous ; look like it's just the players who failed and not the system. People who attack RO 2 to be "useless" forget maybe the problem that it's their OWN way of play who can be also "useless" and make RO 2 "useless" by this fact. Your comment is not "useless" : it's showing only it and must remenber us that a part of problem who come, often come with and by the player himself. And it also show that people talk often about itself...People forget they are part of problem and solution, sometime.

You should discover how RO 2 is a good and atractive game. And not good and attactive in the style of COD, BF, etc...But good and attactive IN THE STYLE OF RO 2. Here it's a point you don't meet. Blind man who is arguing another people for his own blindess.

Why would you? You like FPS that aren't similar to the generic AAA titiles right? Well RO1 is about as far away from that as you can get, while still being an FPS.

Seems like some people don't like the game to be critised? So actually, what you are saying is that you don't want to see the game be improved? Because according to you, it is fine as it is?
Wow, I really would like to know how long you can keep that spirit up. It isn't helping the game at all. It only helps in halting its development. In the medieval ages, people tought that was a good thing, but those ages are aloong time ago...

On unlocking all weapons - the main issue here is that many unlockable weapons should never have been in the game in the first place. I think everyone agrees that all players should have access to standard issue gear like bayonets and PPSH drum mags, but prototype weapons shouldn't be available to anyone, and even the Mkb42 should only appear on maps which depict battles in which it could have actually been used (maps which don't exist yet).

On classes - I'm not sure what the OP meant here. I think gimmick classes like "elite rifleman" and "elite assault" should be removed - instead all riflemen should have a random ~1/8 chance to receive a semi-auto rifle each time they spawn. This way, it's not the same 4 players hogging the semi-autos for the whole game, and those with faster systems aren't given preferential treatment.

Beyond that, it seems everyone agrees that the progression system was not right for RO.

I like several different things, some of them are generic AAA titles too. I didn't like RO1 for a lot of reasons, but only one is relevant to the discussion here: the loss of some of the freedom that server owners had during the mod times.

Before Ostfront was released, I remember that server admins could set the spawn timer to any value they felt comfortable with. I think the standard was 50 seconds, which I believe created just the right pace. Then Ostfront came and the spawn timer wasn't server-dependent anymore, but was set by the map, which made it difficult to change for anyone without modding experience. Most maps had a far lower value that sped up the gameplay in a way I didn't like at all, and this is part of why I didn't bother much with the game past the first couple of weeks.

Now, how does this tie in with the discussion? The ranking system is the new freedom limiting gimmick. By trying to standardize the gameplay across servers the devs are actually putting clamps on people's ability to pursue their goal experience, which in turn drives them away. I'm not trying to do the same with "CoD kiddies", I just think that the RO franchise should capitalize on its trying to be different instead of copying other games that offer similar things (unlocks, rank, fast paced action) because they do it much better.

Agreed on all points except the classes and weapons availability.

Would that not make it more like BF and COD? There are too many auto and semis in Realism mode for me and I hate the enemy weapon loadout and spawn on SL which are also present in the above mentioned titles.

So absolute no from me on this.
However I wish the system on who gets to choose what and when it is available needs some work. At this time whoever connects first gets first pick and that is not good in my opinion.

I agree about server unranked/ranked.

However, like the progression systems. True after a year all the orginal players are wielding top gear. Yet it offers players reasons to stick with the game. Heck, I've only just started using the kar98 after finally getting a belt fed MG34. I don't want to see the squad system broken, IMO being able to be whatever you want is not a good idea, it would break the realism that is at the core of RO2.

That isn't a bad idea. The only problem is that a sizeable chunk of players might be forced to play on different servers if they don't like the changes the admin makes. We only have so many populated servers running at the moment, it will leave a few people with nowhere to play.
