Default Uniforms, greatcoats

Lately Ive been building up a soviet uniform, Ive always collected soviet firearms such as mosins and svt-40s (since svts are only 300$ in Canada ;-) ) but i decided to try and make it extra authentic while going out shooting. because Ive been researching the uniforms so much lately i noticed that obviously there are a few things here and there that are off but my main question was the Russian greatcoats.

Im sure there is a forum on this but i couldn't find it, if anyone could post a link that would help, but i noticed the greatcoats or shinels are very..light, a lot of the greatcoats were a brownish color i believe and sometimes a grey on occasions but the in game coats seem very white almost like the sheepskin coats which were issued to higher ranks and sometimes regular troops in bad conditions which were returned when conditions got better. but the in game ones do not look like this, Im not an expert in uniforms but that's what Ive been thinking, just out of curiosity.

Of course there were a lot of telogreikas (the padded coats) which only the hero class gets in RO2 but all the greatcoats are this very light version, which i understand that they could only make so much variety when creating the game and i dont expect them to create anymore any time soon but it was just a thought. I would like to hear what everyone else has to say since i cant find many posts on topics like this.

Cant wait to hear from everyone and get some info, and cant wait to see you all in game as well :-)

You want greatcoats? Easy Answer:

PLAY IOM (Immersion Overhaul Mutator)

Itīs a great Mutator for much more realistic gameplay feeling.
more Informations: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.co...ad.php?t=92324

Itīs available in the Steam Workshop: "Immersion Overhaul Mutator" by Dibbler67.

Itīs available on some unranked server, too

OdW - Germany
RGN - North America
Catīs Server - Australia

This Mutator could be the future of RO2, all we need is some more public relation. We need Player!!! So tell your friends about this Mutator and join one of the exist Testserver.

The Mutator is fully playable. And it is WIP, so a lot more stuff is cooming.

Have Fun

To address Maverick0's actual question: I think the choice to use one type of greatcoat for the Soviet forces on winter maps was one of expediency on TWI's part. Either that or they didn't pick up on this distinction between standard-issue greatcoats and sheepskin greatcoats during their development of the game. I presume the former to be closer to the truth than the latter.

For a more "authentic" shooting experience you should dress up in your full gear, roll in dirt/mud, not bath for a few days, and speak Russian on the firing range, alternating between muttering desperate reassurances under your breath and shouting curses.

I brought this up on Moskeeto's uniform thread, but it seemed to go unnoticed. Perhaps only Germans get a unform update.

ATM, this is true, but I believe the soviets will receive a few new duds later on.
