Default Reform the honor system/ Rescale Progression

To solve the 'too many heroes' problem, I've come up with a rescaling of the system.

The honor system and rank progression could go something like this:
Instead of an honor system of 0-99, go to 0-300. Reform the ranking as follows:
raw recruit 0-25 rank requirement: 933
Frontline 26-99 rank requirement: 2134
Battle Hardened 100-149 rank requirement: 3133
Veteran 150-299 rank requirement: 4134
Highly Decorated 300-349 rank requirement: 5133
Hero >350 None

Keep the attribute bonuses, points, and loadouts as they are. Because the honor level would go to up to 3 digits, I would also suggest not showing the honor level in game above the avatars, just the rank level.

The highest current rank would be frontline soldier. As seen, going from raw recruit to frontline soldier is relatively quick. Even with this reform, there is a large number of players who would be battle hardened in different classes in short order. Within a few months, there would be many veterans. Notice that the largest honor group is lumped in the veteran rank. This is what people would spend alot of time in. I think it's important to really keep the highly decorated and hero classes apart from the others. So, with this reform, the first hero wouldn't probably be seen for another year. This reform also acknowledges the longer term life of the game. Getting to the Hero rank would take a considerable amount of time and commitment. A hero in a battle would be rare-- and that's how it should be.

Nothing wrong with too many heroes. Eventually everyone will be one, you can't fight that. But i like the line of thought. The way i figure.. that is the least of our problems

Players should be heroes by virtue of heroic deed. Playing the game a lot doesn't warrant that title.

Everyone's a hero in war. :P

Stats don't mean anything.

How about this one: Since everyone starts with lvl 10 instead on 0 (no idea why), you could introduce a new system going from 0 - 99 (or even 100 if possible). So everyone gets 10 levels subtracted and those who buy the game new start at lvl 0.
That's better than nothing

Yeah. I was kind of holding out hope that the hero rank would be a rare thing with actual meaning. It's neither rare nor meaningful when my engineer, who routinely runs across vast open spaces under MG fire to knock out tanks, is still only battle hardened and yet some idiot who picks the AVT as assault and tries to snipe with it is a hero. (This isn't envious griping; I have hero on every class except engineer, AT, and MG.)

Ideally TWI could appoint some trusted 'observers' for each community/area and have them report back players who are actually deserving of the hero rank, but I doubt this would really work... honestly I need to think on the issue more. I just know that hero rank should absolutely not be attainable through grinding.

You're probably right about the ranking system. The rank requirement is the XP needed to get to the next level of honor.

Yes, you're right. It's not the statistics that are really important. As you go higher rank, you get a number of increased abilities. This is what I'm addressing.

Or, just scrap the whole rank thing? I wouldn't be against that.

they won't do it just because there's so many people now that have been heros for too long. it stopped counting class points for us a long time ago. i have 200,636 total points. do those factor into class leveling? i guess they did, but we have no way of knowing what class they got scored in.

that's what they should have done instead of the "global reset".

If RO2 had "heroic" achievements I could see that working.

I just got into the apartments overlooking the first two cap points on the map of the same name as a Soviet SL, killed at least 20 (not exaggerating) guys personally, and spawned in my squad behind the enemy (whom they then proceeded to murder the living crap out of) on Apartments. I was finally killed while typing... after our team had capped both bridges and moved up to C and D. I can't explain how I lived so long other than 'sheer luck' and 'oblivious morons'.

That should be the kind of thing you need to do before you get the hero rank. Or yesterday, when our TL was the last guy left with 0 reinforcements, and yet somehow managed to take 10 or so Germans with him.
