Judging by the other thread, a lot of people agree with me.
We need to organize a time and place (probably the 40-1 classic server) to all hop on. I've been waiting since August (when my brother moved to Chicago) in order to play Ro2. I just bought a new gaming set up and no is freaking playing classic Not to hate on realism - but classic is where the true RO experience is at. Who's with me? Ideas, suggestions? |

There will be a Custom Map FightNight in the first week of march on the
[OdW] Oberkommando der Wehrmacht *Classic* server. We're changing our server provider and will be back with a brand new Classic server. Regards, Blitzkrieg-Bob PS: Our classic server is still running and regularly populated with players. (Server located in Germany) Last edited by Blitzk.-Bob; 02-15-2013 at 08:14 PM. |

made the game funner.Where teamwork was almost second nature everyone understanding what it took to win each map. That's why we did the bloodbath to create our own community for CD (no one plays it).All it takes is a little PR work like these forums or just spam your friends list.I will try to show up and this game needs more events I will bring a few friends if need be ![]() Depends on what you want or how organized you want it. 1:An open pub is ideally what classic needs.A place everyone can meet once a week to get some classic action. This is the easiest to set up weekends are good because of timezones so more people have a chance to show up.We get more players from our region weekdays because most have busy weekends. We set up a Fri night so more of our European friends can play so its hard to say which is best.We do get more on Tue just depends on activity of your region i guess.Just set a date and time and remind people by updating your event post time, map selection or whatever. Its wise to get people to pre download any custom maps beforehand. 2: Organized events takes some work but is where the best gameplay is.You almost need vent or teampseak to organize everything. Public play tends to get team stacked in the bloodbath we set up two teams in their own channels. We ask people to add a tag to their name RED/BlUE so its easy to see what side your own.As well as helping the organizers see what teams they have. After a few times you know more about players and just try to pick even teams. The key to organized events is ...(Balance) team stacking in pubs is not a good experience for HALF your players.Odds are after a few weekly spankings they will loose interest.Or causing a huge RIF among the community you need players that are willing to play either side ....at anytime for the sake of the event. They have to think out of the box is not about German vs Russia its about player vs player. A few key guys can ruin balance also making personnel changes during the event helps. In TE it plays best switching teams every round. So both teams gets a chance and fixing map balance. In CD no need to switch teams because it switches positions each round. At first its hard but as you get a following its easier keeping good even teams making for the best gameplay. The second option is better when your event starts getting full. After a handful of events you will learn who is willing to show up each week.If it gets to a point that dedicated attendants cant get in...events want be like pubs where people log every 10 secs. Then its time to use a closed server using the dedicated pool.I hate the idea of passwords but being a 40 man server and full alot on TUE we had too.On slower nights just open it up as well as having a way for any other players to get in.Pm contact or the forum thread all you can ask for is interest and everyone having fun. Not sure this helps just a few things the {sBc} learned running pick up groups and running pretty much the only casual event in the game for almost a year.It could start slow but with some PR work but ,you can create your own community. This should be np with little work..We had a double challenge doing CD with some classic features and we did it.

Love to play more Classic mode, but too many stock maps (including Apartments ugh) on 40-1 and not enough custom maps. I don't mean a sprinkling of customs maps here and there, I'd like to see at least 50% or more custom.
Just tired and burned on on most of the stock map repetition.... Other than the map rotation, its a great server.

I am all for that. The 40-1 Classic server has a Steam group as well and used to start events every day. There are more than 300 people in the group but the server still remains empty as of the last 2-3 weeks or so.
So join the Steam group and I hope the server admins will promote the server more so we can have the epic battles we used to have on the server. I am free tonight I think and hope to see you guys on the server. I will try and motivate some friends. No offense to Realism but I do not like it. Nor do I like the behavior that I see on most Realism servers with the swearing and childish behavior. That might not be the case for all Realism servers I know but it appears to happen a lot more on them. On another note, I find the choice of servers by players rather strange sometimes. Some servers still lag on full player load but those servers are populated while other servers handle 64 players well and stay empty. Never could figure out that one.

It was months ago since I played RO2: Classic Mode. When I did play it, I only played custom maps and never vanilla maps.
I have started to play ROOST now. It's a lot better. The best thing is the players which are really nice to play with compared to the new blood flowing in RO2. I'd rather play with bots than with these people. But I am all up for a classic mode event if its not played on vanilla maps. |

That's not true. The RGN custom map server runs all customs (plus Barashka and Mamayev) with many custom maps back to back all the time, no problem at all.

Yup. The [40-1] Classic server was nothing but customs this weekend. No problems at all.
Except mostly bots.... :-( C'mon people, get out and play. |

Yes, such a shame! Doesn't TW see what is happening? I think they are so focused on RS that they are losing sight of their current community. Something needs to be done to keep the players in the game, as it is obvious people are losing interest. Find he reason why and counter it!
Please, for the love of RO2! |
