Operation Flashpoint 2 preview and screenies

hang on - from the 2 or 3 pages of the linked thread i read i gather it's actually a mere quarter of this size - no more than 2km high and across for a total maximum area of just 4km^2

I stand corrected.

Actually "no fixed wing aircraft" is a good thing for this type of games, map area is usually too small for them to be implemented seriously. I find the aircraft in ArmA-ArmA 2 laughable.

Other than that OFP2 is still disappointing. But the best bit is how they're announcing these limitations as "features".

Relative to the implementation of all other things, I don't think it's laughable.
It's still computer software, which has it's limitations.

The tank part is usually poorly implemented aswell as these huge diesel engines have turbolag and gas turbine engines also need to spool up.
And the transmission is fairly slow, aswell as engine cranking which takes a lot of time IRL.

All-in-all it's the complete package which is important. Poor aircraft implementation is okay, as vehicle implementation itself is poor.

I'm merely trying to say that rather than wasting their time on those things they should have spent their time elsewhere. Looks like OFP2 developers got that.

I too find armored vehicles in ArmA series very poor, but they are an integral part of infantry warfare unlike fixed wings. BIS should have spent their time improving ground warfare rather than modelling the planes and working on the flight models(which are still very crude even after 3 iterations). Currently flying aircraft over Chernarus feels like putting Titanic into a bathtub.

Rofl, basically the review whined on how hard the game was and that the AI cheats. Also don't forget that ArmA 2 has prettier cars and stuff...

Offical xbox magazine review 8/10

Power Unlimited doesn't count, it's like G4TV with it's RO review (ie playing online games in offline mode against bots and STILL failing, where the review is based on how easy it was for them to play it, read: if they die too much, the game sucks)
PU is the mainstream of the mainstream, and really isn't something that should be read by a serious gamer because if you do, you'll notice the flaws in their style right away.
Only good thing about PU is comical by-lines placed at screenshots.
