Every 1 on that variable is 30seconds. Personally I play with fx_lifetimemultiplier = 10, so the bodies stay visible to me for 5 minutes, which is actually pretty long in-game. Any more than that and Iwo Jima will get choppy even on a beefy computer.

It isn't useful for hiding amongst the bodies, because they're client-side... for everyone else they disappear after 30sec.

But it IS useful for seeing where everyone is being slaughtered (and thus avoiding that area or fixed MG or whatever).

Plus it's really really cool looking to see a ton of bodies.

Ahahah try the opposite and put 0,1 sec, it's like having a laser gun which make instantly vanish your target !

It's up to you and what your computer can handle.

Default is 1, which is 30 seconds.

I use 10, which is 5 minutes.

I'd say try 10 and see if your computer bogs down on Iwo Jima or Apartments or another meatgrinder map, then adjust accordingly.
