Can connect but not for long.

Hi,

As with the usual connection failed issues as everyone else is getting I get a strange bug when I do connect.
The game seems to play fine for about 30 seconds or so, I can watch the fighting and chat to everyone, then after the 30 or so second mark everything starts sliding around in the direction they were heading and I cant talk to anyone before.

It seems to be disconnecting but doesnt tell me about it.

There are a few threads on this already. So many people aren't having this problem and can play for 2 hours with no hiccups. I'm having the problem and I have no software firewall. I'm using a DIR-655 router which I've removed all security from but it's possible it's still my prob because the error log registers ICMP 3 errors everytime I try to connect to a server.

I'm able to connect now. I wrote D-Link and told them my symptoms (the first attempted connect of the day gives me 20-30 seconds game then disconnects and I can't connect anymore and my log is flooded with ICMP 3 errors whenever I try to connect).

A tech wrote me back and said to uncheck SPI and set UDP/TCP Endpoint Filtering on Endpoint Independent.

My Endpoint filtering was already set so it was the SPI that fixed it on mine. In case you also have a DIR-655 or similar, I'll point to where the settings are:
Choose top ADVANCED tab, choose FIREWALL SETTINGS from the left menu and you'll see Enable SPI (uncheck this) and two NAT ENDPOINT FILTERING options, one for UDP and one for TCP, set both to Endpoint Independent

I'm going to copy/paste my answer to other related threads in case it can help someone else.

I'm getting this problem too. It might be something on my end, but I play 10+ other online games perfectly fine, so I'm going out on a limb and blaming Killing Floor.

I can't even connect to most servers, it just hangs on the "connecting" screen, but when I finally do get in, I play for 2 minutes before the models freeze up and I get lagged out.

This really needs to get sorted.

I'm getting the same thing, really frustrating, it's like being in the 90's again, I mean come on the technology and expectations of people have moved on since Quake III came out, this should have been tested out long before release and smacks of incompetance, I've bought the game and can't play it! Every online game I've bought in the last 10 years has worked fine with my setup, why the f*ck are they talking about opening and forwarding ports?

I have registered here for the sole purpose of posting in this thread to say:

I have this problem too.

The more people that whine about it, the quicker were going to get a fix. At the moment I haven't been able to have a single game of KF - I've followed all of the suggested work arounds, I've even done a full re-install of KF.

At the moment I'd be quite happy with my

I was just able to play,

Kryopsis got me thinking that to connect twice it would be easyer using the steam server list. so used that and it worked first time.

Havent had a chance to try again yet so dont know if it was a fluke yet

edit: tryed again but had to connect twice as Kryopsis said
