Servers run by trolls.

I swear, most servers at suicidal and hoE are either password protected, or if they're not they're controlled by ***** players who have no desire to do anything but ruin your otherwise nice day.

Been trying to find a consistently populated low-ping suicidal server lately and it looks like a lost cause. Today I had to deal with some *** on House of Horrors server who along with two partners of his repeatedly vote kicked every single person to join the server and did nothing but flame them until they were kicked. No explanation, no reasoning, nothing but trolls and flames and there's nothing anyone can do about it because they don't allow the server to fill up enough for their votes to get overridden.

I want to punch a pony right now, I'm so infuriated. Ponies are now the new baby seals.

Join me in lamenting about your own **** server ills.

Edit: Good news. I e-mailed the admin of House of Horrors and caught him just a few minutes after he had arrived home. He quickly went to his server and observed the abuse and all three of those 'tards were swiftly banned. Never take **** lying down, people.

was banned from some server of some clan i forget, for picking up one of the numerous flamethrowers a firebug had set down next to himself, when i was completely unarmed (as a medic6) due to a no weapon bug. i might have emailed him, but he was also the a*s hat who banned me. yeah, people are w*nkers sometimes, but it is a good idea to contact someone a head higher than them if you can and if not, tell everyone on the next server you join what you think of that guy. ;)

Happened to me a few times, mostly on those big russian servers. I think those were cybercafe LAN servers.

Join a game, spawned with no weapons due to custom perks or non-whitelisted mutators, pickup one of MANY dropped weapons on the ground while SC, FP or even the Patty (last round) comes after me and I get TK'ed by someone on purpose!!!! You can tell since it takes 4-5 shots to kill you right off.

The server rules even says to not TK!!

Come one... if the admins mod the server so I can't start with my perks, then at least give everyone a decent gun besides a pistol when it is set to hard, suicide or HOE. Some people just don't think what happens when you go above 6 players on how hard those zeds become.

Or if those are LAN/Clan servers, then PW it or block it out from public so we don't have to waste our time.

But I will give props to "The Dedicated" and Proton's set of non-whitelisted servers. Those guys are usually fairly good about new / non-clan or non cybercafe players joining them.

Yeah and most of Sui/HoE servers say
Lvl5/6 or ban ADMIN HERE
, then you join and your team consists of 3 lvl 0s one lvl 1 and one lvl 2. I wouldn't really read the server description or rules since they ARE bull$hit and noone (sometimes including admins) obeys them :/

The first public server I ever joined, was on normal.. and I got kicked right off the bat after walking to the trader on wave 2. Five other players in the room.

Note that I had about 100 hours playing solo and most of those with full games of friends. This put me off public servers for a looong time before I tried again.

Still can't help feeling as though people who post in these threads don't REALLY know why they were kicked. "I got kicked for no reason at all :(" No, you were booted because you waddled into the trader on level 1 commando, yelled for money eight times, walked over someone's gun, and sold it to buy yourself a hunting shotgun. And no, not everybody wants to camp the cave in Manor. (Not anyone I've seen in this thread so far but it happens a lot.)

Lewt,

Yes, there are some servers ran by elitest pricks but hey, its their servers. I did wonder why it's even public in the first place when they should have made it a members only or clan only server but no longer waste my time.

Just find some servers who welcome new guys or team players and stick with them. You should try Wolf Pack Clan's servers... pretty cool group of people to play with or GMK or The Dedicated. Or if you're looking to finish Suicide/HOE with teamwork players, checkout the Japanese or Korean servers.

Even if you're not quite LVL5+, they still welcome you if you can hang with them.

I've more often had better games on the hard server, usually with a load of high level perks who can work as a team.

I've also had fun on the normal server where I've been the last one standing because the squad are inexperienced and got themselves killed, but they at least try and work as a team, it's obvious they're learning.

It's when you get people who can't function in a team, or two mates who can't work with the rest of the squad, that it's less fun. People demanding for cash is annoying, especially when they die really quick in the wave. Or people who are just rude.

Doesn't matter if they're a player or admin, they're good and bad people to find.

I've normally had good luck with friendly admins, (could be because I normally run hard) but today I had bad luck.

So joined on Manor, Suicidal, at wave 9, as a Sharpshooter. The other two dudes (admins) were level 6 supports. They were welding all the doors on the second storey and didn't come down to drop a little money for me. Ended up selling crossbow and settling for LAR, handcannon, and armor. Immediately I notice that these guys don't know how to play, despite their level and the server difficulty. For one, they would run up and AA12 spam Scrakes even though I was there taking aim at them. Wasted buckets of ammo on Scrakes whereas I could take them with about three shots. They would spam lone Crawlers and Clots, attempt to pistol Sirens, and so on. And through this one of the admins was endlessly talking. Guy sounded drunk or stoned, couldn't tell.

So decided that if there wasn't going to be teamwork, fine, no teamwork. Switched to Berserker on wave ten and patroled outside the house. Managed to lead off a couple of Fleshies and Scrakes and eliminate them with little damage.

Eventually the two guys got mousetrapped and died, leaving me with about 100 specimens to deal with. Managed it easily enough, but the admin went on and on about how I'm not a good Zerker for running away from three Sirens, that I should kill the Scrakes faster with the axe, and that he and the other admin didn't like people who don't play with "teamwork".

We lost against Kevin, mostly I kept getting blocked while katana-aggroing the Patty. Stuck around for a few rounds on the next wave, gave my money to a new player, and quietely left.

Like I said, I'm used to chill admins and players, but I guess this is my rude awakening. God, it annoyed me.

Times are tough but if you can afford it, rent your own server, man. 0 headaches. 0 trolls. 0 griefers. 0 bull****

It's heaven and it's cheap. (10 dollars a month is what I pay for mine which is like 2 pints. easy!)
Or make your own. The dedicated server is super low on resources, so a P4 powered, 1GB RAM machine should be able to run a single instance just fine with no hiccups. Probably more, but I haven't tested. I do know an Athlon x2 with 4GB RAM can run four instances with other programs running in the background just fine.

Some people like hard games because they often have a ton of level 6 refugees from suicidal+, but that's just as bad.. a couple level 6 support specialists can sit in a room and do everything on their own, regardless of how the rest of the team is faring. Not to mention berserkers or medics who pray everyone else dies so they can get a chance to shine.

If you can go afk and still win the game, there's a problem. If you can give away all your money every wave, and have two times more kills than everyone else put together, and still lose.. there's a problem.

Sorry, should've clarified my story a bit. This happened like, back when the m14 and a few other weapons were added for the first time. Played about 1400 hours since then, not really looking for a group. Thanks though - it's awesome to see friendly people.

I've seen this behavior before and will never venture outside my 'hole'.

<-No Clans, Community, BS, get 6 people and go nuts.

That's all I need to play mah KF and all I will play KF on. Hard? Yep. Suicidal? Yep. HoE? Yep. Just VOTE for them! XD

The 'big' servers out there are taking a very turn for the worst, where Ban and Kick is being used on 'insubordination' instead of REAL trouble makers, such as spam, exploits, hacking, etc.

In reality, you've got two choices. Join a Community, or host your own server for your fun and pleasure. If you got 6 people, its even more easier if you'd all share the bill for one HoE madhouse, since they are NOT that expensive. |3

I normally play on the EGN server(s), I know the admins, and they are pretty cool about most things, I once got votekicked by 2 people who joined afte the patty round started, and was "banned" from that session, all I had to do was message one of thr admins on steam and had the ban reversed. Long story short: find a server with good admins and stick to those servers

Last night, ice breaker HoE there are some newbies trying to hold an impossible hallway on round 6 (I joined on round 4 and watched them barely hold). So, I zerkered up top alone, to try and keep as many zeds off them as I could. They all die. I have to deal with **** coming at me from all directions because of how they were playing. I finish the map and am running to the trader to doll out the 2k that I have but don't need when I get kick banned by the admin. WOW!

Of course there is an explanation. That team wanted to play alone. Just the three of them. Could of been a clan server as well. When I join a clan server, first thing I ask is if it is an open game.

Totally, and I don't even see the point in kicking the dude that basically saved your game

Browsed through Suidical servers again with decent ping, and played for a bit. Things fell apart on West London on wave ten when a ninja Fleshie one-shotted one of our Supports (without raging, mind you). Next came up Waterworks, and the admin from last time I played shows up. According to him, you must weld doors in order to survive (which I think should tickle Nutter's sensibilities), the LAR is garbage, you should rage FP before he steps on pipe, it's ideal to AA12 spam Scrakes before a Sharpshooter stuns, and that if anyone should so dare as to disagree with the admin's tactics he should be kicked.

Admin (named something-something-Floggin, if anyone wants to know) also found it ironic that the guy who also didn't want the door welded (this is the door at one end of the single-entrance hallway in Waterworks) was killed. So, yeah, I was annoyed again. Don't know why I stayed on the server.

On the bright side, after Waterworks finished, me and the other guy who had disagreed with Floggin stuck around for Departed. And we pretty much beasted it with him as a Support, me as crossbow sharp, and a late joiner as a Demo. No deaths, even with Kevin. Was quite satisfied with that game.
