I was lvl 4 having basically never played medic. It took just a few games to hit 5. Now I'm trying to get to 6 and holy crap! It's more tedious than running two other perks from start all the way to 6.
Yes, to put it one way, 5 to 6 is like going from 1 to 5 three times. How long did it take you to get from 1 to 5? Multiply this by 3 and you get the time it'll take you to get from 5 to 6.

My advice is to play the game as usual with whatever perk you feel like, heal people whenever you see them fall below 100 (even 99), especially in between waves when you are at the trader. A small incentive is you make a bit of money from healing. If you happen to be medic, play around with some weapons; pick a weapon you like and play as the perk that specialises in it before you change to medic for a discount on the weapon and have fun while healing your team when you are medic. Practise healing team mates at a distance while they are constantly strafing and jumping. Hard difficulty seems to be the best balance between players dying too quickly and survivability, but suicidal is fine too if you're good enough to play that difficulty and you have a decent team playing. And don't check your perk progress too often, it may seem to go faster if you don't check too much.
By doing this, I had a lot of fun with the perk (especially leading on a group of noobs with some epic healing moments - you'll know exactly what I mean when you experience keeping players alive that shouldn't be alive with non-stop healing with the syringe on multiple team mates), and was able to reach level 6 before any of my other perks!

I'm not big on "easy mode" nerfs and buffs but I think TWI should change the perk requirement on the medic. The fact that so many people who are otherwise opposed to farming but consider it for medic is telling.

I'd like to see them pretty much half the gap from 5 to 6, then go back and increase the gap between the other levels.

I found it a bit unsatisfying that I nearly made it to level 5 without even playing as a medic. It's equally unsatisfying to "farm" my way to 6. It would have been nice to hit say level 2-3 tops by playing as other perks then to grind my way to 6 in a reasonable amount of time.

You have a point there. While I was one of those whose Medic automatically switched from 5 to 6 with the update, I remember how long it took to get from 0 to 5, so I will can seriously agree that the final healing point requirement is a bit sky high.

In other words, you're just "re-leveling" from 0 to 3 again, or was it 4? I can't remember the numbers at this point.

Oh Yeah

Oh Yeah

So i got Rank 6 Medic yesterday (Saturday, 13/2/10) in a game on Skeleton's Bone Pile (cough cough advertising cough cough) when i was at an internet cafe with my friend. I was so happy. All my hard work being the best medic on my team (most of the time) and generally being a team player has finally come to fruitian.

I think a lot of my skills aiming with the MP7M came from my Xbow skills on my Rank 6 Sharpshooter. Being able to gauge where to aim to hit a friend (or scrake, as SS) at a distance, taking into account the latency gained from the projectiles not being supersonic (close enough, w/e).

TL;DR, Skeleton's Bone Pile servers, I got R6 medic yesterday, i'm a team player, i can aim.

Discuss the skills needed for long-distance shooting with the MP7M?

Still at 5. That jump from 5 to 6 is retarded difficult.

What difficulty do you find easiest to gain heals?

Took me ages to get lvl 6, tho medic was my first lvl 5 perk..

Id say the easiest difficulty would be suicidal, because all specimens do massive damage so theres ALOT of healing to be done. If not suicidal then hard.

On Suicidal, chances are if someone gets hurt enough to need a heal, then they're already screwed.

LOL yeah good point. But still, if you just manage to avoid death, suicidal would be best. I mean if you get hit ONCE by a gorefast its like half HP gone which means 50 healthpoints for the medic from single hit!

I once played a game where we were camping at the church on west london, there was 3 berserkers in front of the door, couple other perks at the back and I was a medic. Those 3 zerkers were CONSTANTLY in need of a medic so all I did was heal ALL THE F***ING TIME. There wasnt even time to reload my weapon or shoot anything in the first place. It was insane, but hey loads of healthpoints for me :D

I finally just got level 6 medic. Out of all my level 6 perks(firebug, support, demo, sharp, and medic), I think medic was the easiest. Getting medic to level 6 was so easy I actually didn't have to farm. I absolutely love my huge speed bonus and uber-armour. But I was wondering what's faster, Lvl 6 Medic or Lvl 6 Berserker?

Medic, gets to 30%, Zerker gets 25% :)

Well, as a level 6 medic whats the best weapon to use as backup or on patriarch?.

Try a crossbow. Cheap as dirt and if you get good with the crossbow the skills transfer to the MP7M.

Plus it's nice to have a weapon you can kill anything with, as a medic.
I've decapped Fleshpounds (no "er") on hard as a medic. It takes one ro rage them, then a second well-placed shot to decap. then a shot to the body to put it down. I've actually been in games where there were no sharpies and a few FireBugs so i've had to pick up the crossbow to help out.

But yes, Hunting Shotgun is good, but the crossbow is really good, both for learning how to snipe in general and for helping out the team without begging for dosh.
