Server What is the Management console good for?

That's the question.
I don't get any feedback when i type in console commands there nor the commands take any effect. Do I have to enable anyhing else in the webadmin config to get this thing to work? Or is there another method (except of joining the server and login as admin) to send console commands to the Server?

I use to update PB for example.

I have my server screen up in one window, then type in the command in that chat management console: pb_sv_update, I can see the command taking effect in the actual server window of my dedicated box. Webadmin doesn't actually show you any progress by the commands.
