Default remove mounted MGs, add more time in classic mode

this is the primary reason, imho, why defenders win what seems like over 90% of the time in classic mode. tbh, removing this and adding like 5 or so minutes to every map would greatly help with balance. right now, reinforcement number doesnt matter since the map time always runs out beforehand, so by adding extra time, defenders would actually have to pay attention to their reinforcement count

Somewhat agreed. Now that defenders have more of an advantage from firing from fixed positions, attackers need something to equalize it, hence why in real life attackers rarely attack without outnumbering the enemy.

Apart from that, why remove HMG's?

HMG's arent a huge problem I dont think. Would it be too immersion-breaking if their locations were marked on the map though? Something like a red marker circled around it to show its an area of elevated threat. Or just a little "stamp" with the MG symbol/silhouette on it.

HMG's for your team are marked on the map, some white circular symbol with an arrow inside are used to show them on the map.

Personally, only a few are ever actually in a decent spot, so I think it'd not do much by removing them, besides, defenders would've set up such positions so I think they should remain.

Maybe a little more time could be added, but you'd have to weigh it against the boredom factor of playing 30+ minute slaughter-fests.

Any objective can be conquered by using proper tactics.
It's not immpossible to win as an attacker. I've seen it happen on every map in classic. Your team has to work together.

And why would you remove mounted MGs?

But it's not about being possible, so much as not requiring a pro attacking team or a clueless defending team for attackers to win. If a map is designed so that the attackers need to work their ss off lest the defenders win by default, then it's not a good map.

Not that I really want to imply any imbalances because I can't in all good conscience speak on those kinds of things.

I'd agree with adding more time so the attackers - in Classic - will have more time to progress more carefully, but I have no problem with an MG (mounted or not). There are ways to deal with them.

The only thing I dont like about the static mg's is that If iam correct they spawn randomly on specific spots. So sometime it is just pure luck to have a mg in a good position. And map balance should not be based on luck.

Heavy Machine Gun Emplacements should, in my opinion, be destructible from tank fire or from satchel charges. I think even from a grenade or two.
I am opposed from removing them however!

well, something does have to be done so that defense doesnt almost always win in classic. its not nearly as easy as in ost to shoot MGs with the suppression in this game-in ost pop up rifling was really easy and it helped with the balance actually

Are we playing the same game mode? The only map where I really see balance issues in classic is Grain Elevator and it has pretty much nothing to do with static mg's.

With only one exception that I can think of (the far-side HMG on Apartments covering the street near the Propaganda House) every single HMG in the game has one or more sweet spots from which you can take it out.

Note too that suppressing an HMG is highly effective--doing so knocks the gunner out of zoom. Out of zoom, the HMG is actually very mouse-sensitive and far more difficult to use. If enough people are pouring fire on an MG, the gunner will be forced to flee, or he will be killed.

HMGs really aren't that hard to deal with if you're a decent rifle shot. The thing is, though, that riflemen on the attack tend to forget how effective they can be at pinning defenders down and picking off HMGs, LMGs, riflemen, and snipers. Snipers themselves tend to be terrible team players in RO2--they're the best equipped to deal with MGs. Riflemen appear to spend too much time charging at capzones, when sometimes it is actually more worthwhile and helpful to sit back for a minute and plink some helmets.

If more riflemen paused every now and then to kill a couple enemies, attacking would go so much smoother...

Destructible MGs (Engineer satchel) would be great!

Destructible HMGs would be interesting. But I don't think they should be removed. They pack alot of power but like Nikita said, there are some good spots riflemen can pick them off from.

Example: A rifleman shooting from the door under propaganda house back balcony/stairs can get a direct headshot while on that HMG in back alley; Also when you start firing HMGs, the noise and amount of death/threat you spew out instantly paints you as a target for every machinegun/rifleman/sniper that hears it.
