Well in that case, the night maps shouldn't be that dark. They should be dark enough for you to identify that it's nighttime but bright enough for you to still see enemies at some distance.

In fact, any night maps should be close-quarters where any long-range advantages provided by higher gamma settings can be ruled out.

people must be used to living in the city. a typical night without city lights is quite dark.

i love these kinds of discussions. the realism-freak facade quickly breaks down when people realise they might not actually like it if it's done properly.

yep, keep asking for night maps that are actually day maps with a blue filter.

Did you read the whole thread? It was generally agreed upon, that realistically dark night would too strongly promote cheating by increasing gamma. So people are trying to find middle ground where it would look enough nighty, without being too hard to see things.

You can stop the effect of cheating by using the distance fog of the game and basically make it black and block out everything beside sources of light. Basically make the game make everything that is darker than a visible threshold pitch black.
