Heard of it when it was the mod for UT during the MSU competition. I played a couple of hours of either the earlier mod, or the CA release, but having no rig to run it at that time, didn't get it then.

Bought OST in April 2007. Fun times. Of course, I have nowhere near the bragging rights of Gods from the Time of the Mod, and worse still, I like RO2.

Yeah, that's pretty much my case, too. I was interested when I first heard about it, but never got around to trying it. I saw Mekh playing RO:Ost shortly before RO2 came out, and while it was promising enough to get me hopeful for RO2, the clunkiness and bizarre quirks of some of it kept me from playing RO:Ost. It still looked way too much like a somewhat crude mod.

Hi,

I put the third option as I then believed Tripwire could go on to have the resources to really come out with a polished game in the future, believing that the small team of the time could build on their success.

I remember buying UTK3 and being a tad disappointed with it, so started looking for mods out there. The first release was more of a revelation in the amount of, and attention to detail of the rifles, rather than the gameplay and content.

I still think each iteration has its strong points and weak points and if you took the good points of all three, you would get the perfect game. ( but hey, that is a subjective view)

Damn, I'm stupid, I miscast my vote. Didn't read all the options first. It should be option 3, not option 1.

I picked up RO OST in july 2006 while browsing games in an electronics store. I mainly bought it because it had a good looking and big cardboard box with minimaps and tank id cards (and all that other crap you never need but absolutely, positively need to possess!), while being relatively cheap. If I remember correctly this was also the game I first installed steam for.
The SDK and the cards where a nice bonus, but I was amazed by the content, especially the variety of tanks and overall feel of tank battles.

After I while I quit playing and switched to Forgotten Hope (BF42 Mod), but came again and again for the steady stream of new, gigantic custom maps, new vehicles (Panzer IV H!), the tank battles per se or mods like Darkest Hour.

RO OST is a great game, would buy again.

As soon as RO moved to UT2k3, and I've been playing since the very first release on UT2k3.

Late '05, early '06, a couple of months before the release of Ost. Read a preview article 'bout it on a now-defunct Croatian gaming site...

I gained interest in RO around when it was first released, Saw an ad for Ostfront in a WW2 magazine. The realism aspect really excited me. But I didn't end up buying it until about 3 years ago. So I started playing RO in early 2009...

Red Orchestra Combined Arms... followed it a month or two prior to being released as there was talk of this mod coming into the Make Something Unreal Contest and I was just starting to look for something more interesting to add to my UT2k4 experience.

Through all the Unreals, I skipped UT2k3, which is why I also missed the first RO Mod.

I didn't get Ostfront until Dec 15th, 2009 & kind of skipped it for the most part (just stuck to the Mod most of the time due to not liking some of the changes) and then RO2 came out and drew me in like the Mod did....

.... and now it's kind of on the back burner these days, where I may play an hour every week at best. I'll get back to playing more once the Single Player is fixed and other features are brought into the game.
