Seriously, the moment you remove ALL modes and let server admins tweak the settings themselves you will have ONE MODE, which changes slightly from server to server. There wouldn't be any people saying "X IS BETTER AND MORE REALISTIC THAN Y, I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG" anymore because there aren't any other modes to compare. The game doesn't really have a core at the moment, but in all honesty all three modes really aren't that different... Remove the modes, let everything be determined by the admins and you bring together the community.
This still begs the question: What should this only mode consist off?

I mean, there has to be an overlapping formula. Something that everyone can accept to implement. For example, running speed, stamina, recoil, - and maybe even pace of gameplay for that matter, is something that has to do with the RO formula. Changing any of this is up to debate which this, and many, many other threads, proves.

Server settings is good but there must be a limit of options. You cant have dozen of server settings. I for one will at least not play a game like that. It has to be very basic, as you mentioned, and that means a decision regarding an overlapping formula has to be taken...

Realism, and I only say this because it's the most popular. Change the name to Standard or Stock or something similar and easy to understand.

I disagree. What you'll end up with is the majority of servers will still just run the stock mode, which is what happened in the old days when most FPS games could be modded. Then you'll get a few that people tweak to bizarre states and a certain percentage that try to hit a specific gameplay experience. After a while, a couple of those (usually clan servers) nail things down well and others begin to copy them or the clan releases the settings as a mod and most of the custom servers will run it or other similar settings.

I don't think it'd change the community much as most will still stick with Realism and then you'll have a subgroup playing "Classic like" sub mods (maybe like what RGN has for example.), but at least it's give those sub communities the ability to modify RO2 into what they want.

So how about this then.

Take the current Realism mode and take the unlocks/enemy weapon spawn out. Then rename it Standard mode.

Take Classic and tweak the movement speed / other community concerns, and rename it Realism.

Again if this is successful, Arcade mode should cease to exist on its own.

Renaming classic to anything won't help boost numbers, its just not that popular, the only way to let everyone have their cake and eat it is to let servers do what they want!

Perfect.

If you allow admins to do what they want, eventually you'll have several versions of "Realism" mods and people will play whichever ones they like. I don't think based on this thread and every other related one that there's any consensus on what tweaks should be done, it'll just start another round of whining.

I think a rename would help slightly, you'd probably have a few more tire kickers try Classic servers out if the name was more accurate to the experience, but Classic is fading as we speak. I haven't been able to find a Classic server more than half full in at least a week.

Classic and Realism modes really aren't all THAT different when it comes to important gameplay mechanics, so one unified game mode is really a fairly pragmatic solution.

I think many people feel that Classic run speed is too slow, and as far as I'm aware people also complain, perhaps not to the same degree, that Realism run speed is too fast. Seems like there's clear room to meet in the middle here.

Not sure how people feel about sway, but correct me if I'm wrong in suspecting that most players wouldn't even notice if a slight delay was added to iron sights and if weapon sway was increased.

Most players don't notice peripheral indicators to begin with. The minimap/compass is practically useless at best. Spawn on SL is only infrequently used by the average player.

The only potential conflict point that I can see, really, is when it comes to progression and weapon loadouts.

Just thinking aloud, here.

Rename "Realism" as "Standard".
So there is no insinuation anymore that one mode is more realistic as the other...
Very curious though what they are going to do with the "enemy weapon loadout" in Rising Storm. Very curious!

Merge Classic with Realism, keep the name Realism. Problem solved.

Classic ADS(aim down iront sights?)

Classic Sway

Realism Sprint Speed

Keep Bandaging

Classic realoading

Peripherial indicators (arma a MIL SIM has them, why not keep 'em?)

Zoom when not in ironsights

Give people option to switch to default realism hud or the one we have in Classic currently.

I always thought this thread was just being tedious, to me the answer was always simple.
