I was under the impression that "In B4 Reset" players got free access to the GOTY equipment (AVT, Mkb and whatnot) and, indeed, i remember being able to use those weapons at some point, however, i don't seem to be able use them anymore, they just don't appear on weapon selection - why is that?

no. the only thing you get for being "in before reset" is an achievement.
you're thinking of the unlocked bayos and such, for buying the game pre-release. there is not goty equipment. not sure why you can't play with avt or mkb. probably cause the server admin disclude those weapons?

Hmm, now i don't know what do think, i've seen many a time people running round with Mkb's whilst being unable to choose the weapon myself... maybe weapon limits or something, i've understood Mkb to be a weapon of the Elite Assault class, which i played just a few hours ago, only had Mp-40 in the selection while i saw others using Mkb-s...

I believe if you pre-paid for the game you get the Mkb. The next way to get the Mkb is to buy the digital deluxe upgrade. I think it is 10 dollars. You can wait for a steam sale and it will be cheaper. The hardest way is to level your elite assault class.

Hmm, but i was able to play those weapons for some time, i always assumed it was because of the "In B4 Reset" thing... But i never bought the Deluxe upgrade.

In this case I think you played "Classic" mode, in which you'll not need to unlock it.

how many hours are we talking about?

Not a whole lot to be honest, steam says it is just over 100 hours. But for me that is actually pretty decent, i don't usually play one game non stop for long periods of time and my playing time is restricted to weekends due to the fact that i am in active military service and i don't have a decent internet connection in barracks. In comparison, i've about 200 h logged in Ostfront and DH combined and i really loved that game.
