Limit of 'only' two or three heroes per team.

Wait, really?
Are the heroes decided on a first-come first-serve basis?

I sometimes wonder if it also depends on the map; seems like some maps allow more people with hero status than others. For example, on Grain Elevator I commonly find myself being auto-switched from Hero to Highly Decorated (particularly at the beginning). Perhaps it's just me though.

Hero status does fluctuate as eligible players enter, leave, and switch classes though.

depends on server settings, and how many heroes are allowed per 16/32/64 player games, max = 4/6/10

What's the difference between Hero and Highly decorated in game play besides marginal upgrades 5%?

I've always wondered this, but do higher and higher ranks of say, a Veteran Squad leader get preference for the role vs a Raw recruit once a game starts?

No favored preference for role selection at game start.

A Hero gives a suppression reduction bonus and provides a morale boost (for objectives) to surrounding troops. This may also apply to the Hero himself, I'm not sure... (I'm a Hero Rifleman, Engineer, and Squad Leader, but there are enough Heroes running around that I'm never sure if bonuses are from myself or if they're from other heroes).

You also get a different-looking player character model/

How the hell do you guys even get to that level? I have way too much time put into RO2, and I still don't see myself ever getting to a high rank without grinding AI matches.

Leveled Rifleman and Squad Leader without ever fighting AI. I have to say that I played in mostly-AI servers just part of the time as an Engineer, but I never once farmed in a totally empty server with nothing but me and 30-odd bots. Just kept resupplying machine gunners, capturing objectives, destroying objectives, and killing other human players. I have about 409 hours in-game by now.

Capturing objectives is where the points really are. Get the +10 for a cap and up to +12 or more for the "multiple person cap bonus", and that's more than twenty team points right there.

The key is to get team points by killing attackers while defending. Each kill gives me +1 to +3 honor. I use both fixed MGs and MG-34 belts to do it now. A round in a close-in map with "bot herds" gives me easily 200-250+ points per 10 minute round.

One honor level, once one reaches the 70s in honor, probably needs a good 2.5 rounds of playing to class up.

I'm presently working on getting my honor level from 73 to 80, which wouldn't take too long if the right method is employed.

So it's marginal improvements? I guess it's only a bit better than a L5 guy.

That's the botfarming way. But you could also just do it the fun way and play real games where you actually go for objective. It gives you your points just as quickly (bonus points for killing enemies in objective, and of course even more for capping them) and its not so boring.

if you get kills near a command and squad leader, in an objective, thats like +13 team points.

Like Nikita is saying, use the point system that exists. Cap objectives, resupply MG guys, kill enemies in the objectives, etc. You can rack up major points by living and dying in the objectives.

If you are one of these people are more focused on killing (and particularily killing outside the cap zones), and not capping, then it is gonna take a really long time to get promoted.

I found that the key is play defensive, so you get that cap bonus. There's not so many points to be found if you play offensive. I also use only the MG-34 belt.

I go for the objective, and I try to kill enemies in the objective. Just killing a guy outside the objective gives you only 1 point. In the objective, it's often 3 or 2 points. And of course, you get a lot of points if you cap.

That's why my games are over quickly, as I cap quickly when bot farming.

I'm at level 75 right now. I bot farm here and there.
