Default Steam friends visible on map with other coloured dot

I'm not sure if this suggestion already has been done, but I would find it very usefull to see my Steam friends (when on friendly team) visible as another coloured dot (instead of blue) on the map. This would allow friends to find each other more easy when wanting to have some teamwork together.

This feature existed in Battlefield 1942 and it really helped with teamplay among friends.

Joining the same squad is not always possible as some slots are class specific.
@ OP i dont think linking the steam friends and the players on the map is something that is doable. Of course someone may prove me wrong.

I can imagine that is not doable, but what we needed to do in Battlefield 1942 was type in a command in console like 'addfriend mikeedude' and then it worked (probably saving the data somewhere in an ini file). So Ducky, the man of colours , maybe that is a nice project for you ?

As long as you don't see the friends on the enemy side.
I would really like this feature. It would encourage more teamwork while sticking together with your buddies, which is also a very fun thing to do.

I vote YES, please.

Seeing as the two are on the same engine this makes having such a feature in RO2 quite a bit more likely.

I actually came in here to post the same thing RO2 should implement a system more like Chivalry when it comes to steam friends, I would really like to see my steam friends names so I could go directly to them. Maybe this could be a part of the tactical display? It is a lot more fun supporting a buddies machine gun or clearing rooms together.

Yeah thats the point. Having fun with your Steam friends on the battlefield. Most Steam friends are in a Teamspeak channel together so with this feature it adds to the immersion and the fun. Right now it is hard to find friends on the field when you respawn. Do you guys recognise the question: 'where are you?' and then you need to answer with 'I'm in the trenches next to that big tree on the left flank, right after that little house with some bushes in front of it', followed by 'can you see me?' and so on and on... ? Please give us a coloured dot instead.

Another simpler idea is to get rid of the class restrictions on joining a squad, so that whatever classs you and your friend are you may join the same squad.
This would also help when you have an AFK or sniping(usually with a ppsh) Squad leader, you could switch to any other squad that has enough slots.

Good idea indeed. Maybe somewhat like the tanks where you can allow or disallow the joining of human players. Regarding squads those could be friends. But still, in same squad or not, chances exist you got more friends on the battlefield than there are slots in your squads, so I still want my coloured dots

I support this idea. Would make it easier to stick with your friends on the battlefield.

I still like the simple Chivalry solution so we dont have to change any other RO2 mechanics. For those of you that have not played it what happens is if a friend is on your team you can see their name through walls and terrain wherever they are on the map. So you dont even have to look down you can just make your way to them. when you can see them I think it disappears. This is what I want in RO2.

It's quite large (Partly depends on the guys name -"Sir Dinkleberry the Third" goes a fair way across the screen, the font is still quite large) and only goes away when you click the button to remove HUD waypoints / markers. I'd want something a lot less intrusive than that. :x
