Weapon sway while walking on different surfaces

It is hard to tell from the videos, but it looks like weapon sway will be the same no matter what surface the player is walking on.

Whether it is a road or snow, the weapon sway always looks the same, at least in the videos.

I think it would be nice if you experienced more weapon sway if you where walking on less stable surfaces. I am sure it is much easier to control your weapon and keep it level when you are walking on a paved road VS snow or a pile of rubble.

On a side note, the weapon sway/movement looks too exaggerated in RO2. Not as bad as OFP DR, but still looks a bit odd.

It would have to be for stuff like deep snow (assuming we're even going to see it), otherwise the small variations would either be hard to notice and not worth implementing, or too severe, annoying and varied.

How you carry a rifle doesn't change when you move from dirt to pavement for instance. Deep debris like bricks from a fallen building and deep snow are the only two things I can think of that this would be seen in.

If it hurts the gameplay, why are you not happy about it then? Considering this entire community is made out of silly idiots who don't know enjoyable, balanced game when they see one and they are more interested about bickering details which are invisible to the naked eye and they wave their massive wangs around everytime they see their authentic war porn around, it gives perfect opporturnity to advertise BF3 beta, the supposed biblical messiah of PC gaming. Remember how we're such big idiots that we ignore how that's supposed to be competitive product for RO2? Oh silly me, we live with our heads inside our arses in the blissful lalala-land so what's BF3? What's gameplay?

There is no weapon sway in the traditional sense, it's based off the breathing model. I don't really care for this idea at all. It's overly complicated details like this that hurt the gameplay.

It doesnt hurth gameplay,it makes it more immerse, more realistic, more crafty and makes you a better player in time.

Where is the fun in todays FPS games where you have your crosshair and you can just kill people like that, you can aim after running half of the map without being out of breath like some super soldier, yes games suppose to be just games, those games are casual, this game its DIFFERENT,ITS SPECIAL.

and I will say it again, buy RO1 so you can see what is all about,w4hoo got it and he sees that is not the typical FPS.

That is mainly why I would like to see it. When I walk/fight on snow, I want to feel like I am fighting in the snow. When I am inside a nice, flat floor in a building, I want to feel the difference.

It won't be that big, but it does add up.

The little details are what make good games great.

Assuming it was a fairly light multiplier effect, I think it would be neat. I've never worked with materials in any unreal engine, but I'm guessing there's some sort of "surface type variable" for each texture which defines whether its muddy, gravel, sand, etc.. Could just apply some sort of sway multiplier to each surface type. Things like sand, mud, and forest floor could add a multiplier effect to your current weapons way. EG: x1.1 for forest, x1.2 for sand, x1.3 for mud...

Perhaps on very steep inclines it could also have the same effect.

It'd be a pretty small detail, but it's not like it'd need to be a HUGE effect, it could just change things ever so slightly, so people on solid ground have a slight shooting advantage over those treking through mud or walking down a steep hill.

It hurts the gameplay because the weapon breathing and dynamic barrel direction system are already complicated enough. Games are enjoyable when you have a level of mastery. Adding ridiculous things like this are just UNenjoyable, and hurt the gameplay.

Sometimes less is more in game design. A game with one million different features/unique elements would be total garbage.

I don't even want to make a reply to respond to hypnotoads epic semantic troll post below.

This game has tons and tons of features, but it is all very streamlined. If you want a point and shoot go play CoD. This game has ballistics, controlled breathing, and sway to make the feel of the gun right, not just a toy glued onto your face.

Knighted buddy, why are you so sceptic about RO2? I mean there has to be something that brought you here to the forums, what was it? was it the voice spreading around that it will be PC only FPS,64 players, battlefield, big maps...I'm just guessing cause this are the things that brought me to the game.

I for example hate that in RO if you start reloading you cant do anything else,I mean you cant just stop the reloading and run away from incoming nade or an enemy who is deploying his MG with an evil smile on his face LOL....or I also hate when I shoot with my bolt and instead of drop my rifle to my hips and start reloading,I click the fire button again and my soldier is reloading while my bolt is raised which it makes you move very slow, and I cant interupt this slow reloading no matter what and hope the enemy wont hit me.....

My point is there is something that attracted you to this game, but why you doubt this game,I can see that you post and argue about things and dont want to see RO2 being ruined, well at least ruined in your eyes, but since you post here your opinions, you must care for the game bro!!!

Share with us dude, what are your doubts in the game?

First off, what are you talking about? I have a negative opinion on a feature SUGGESTION from the community. That's not bashing RO2. I obviously care, but that doesn't mean I have to care about the detail obsessed community trying to make RO2 into a RO+, or Arma. I'm someone who liked RO somewhat but thought it was clunky as hell, and want to see RO2 be a great shooter, not a great 3d history lesson. I'm a huge history buff, but it has doesn't matter in a video game, in fact it's kind of disturbing.
