Default Map title display

When rotating to a custom map, is there any way for the title to display in the load screen? It'd be nice to know when choosing a side or role what map you're about to play. ATM, all we have is a cryptic image to use to decipher what map it is.

Remember Forrest Gump?

It's odd to be sure. In other games I've played, the custom mapmaker could include a splashscreen with a screenshot, name, signature and whatever else they wanted.

There was a thread about this on the Level Design part of the forum a while back. IIRC it's not at all easy to do.

If i remember correctly the reason for this is that the standard map names are hard coded into the game, and of course this is something only TWI can change, modders aren't allowed to do this. A splashscreen with a picture with the map name on it would be great, but nobody seems to have figured out how to add the picture yet.
It would also be a good idea if we could add the nextmap name via the server Admin panel, something like this:

File Type: jpg next map name..jpg (37.1 KB, 29 views)

It would be nice if you also had the option to opt out after the map screen has begun to load. Not even just for nit picking maps you dont like, but for all the times when you accidentally join the wrong server.

I think the problem is not getting this working.
The problem is to get the video/picture to the client I think?
Workshop and redirect/cache only supports .upk and .u.

Perhaps, but custom maps can also be manually installed, and we still haven't seen any splash screen pics. for clients who manually install.

In iterations of Unreal, a screenshot was baked into the map file. Later by UT2004 a map could have several screenshots that played like a slideshow, like the stock RO2 maps. The scolling Bink file isn't neccessary, only a nice addition and has broken the ability to add "after-release" content. Being able to choose a bink or a screenshot series would be awesome, just with the limited number of custom maps it seems not likely to happen. Code needs changing, and only a serious patch will do it.
