If you are planning to map for RO2 then you can get the SDK through steam, providing you own the game.

If you intend to just get jiggy with the editor, then the UDK would be a better fit of which you can get from Epic Games.

Yep. If you want to get going with making a map then you can use the UDK to get going and back fill RO2 specifics once it's publicly available.

Is there a resource anywhere with listings of dimensions of tanks/players etc. for reference?

Inside the RO2 SDK we have reference StaticMeshes for player in various poses and tanks so that measurements are a LOT easier to deal with if you like to do it inside the perspective view.

Ooh, I was looking for something like that just yesterday, but couldn't find the package where they are. I must have another look

LordGleedo-If you haev trouble finding any assets, try "fully loading" the External package 3-4 times. I've noticed that all of the assets fail to populate on the first try.

If you put the Game Asset Database in offline mode, and run the package sweep to make a content journal, you should have thumbnails of all the assets in the game.

http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/Conte...rDatabase.html

Take a gander at that. That will save you from having to load the entire package to look at the goodies. If you can't sort it out, let me know.

I will have to talk with the art department about releasing those assets actually. Appears since they are not in the final game they didn't end up in the SDK.

Actually even after 3 or 4 times they don't all load. The stuff swag is talking about, i believe the package is called "screenshot poses" it's in you characters folder.

Your steam folder -----> \Steam\steamapps\common\red orchestra 2\ROGame\CookedPC\Packages\Characters\Screenshot_P oses.upk.

Those characters help out tremendously. setting up window height, walls, etc.

Is the content journal creation automatic? I put my database into offline mod but couldn't find anything about "package sweep"

Put the following entries (if they don't exist) at the top of xxxEditorUserSettings.INI and clear any other entries.

[ContentBrowserSecurity]
bIsUserTagAdmin=True
bIsUserCollectionsAdmin=True

[GameAssetDatabase]
OfflineMode=TRUE
JournalAlarmTime=1/1/2010 12:00:00 AM

That is incorrect. I am talking about the game asset database that, amongst other things, stores a thumbnail image of the asset in the content browser so you do not have to load an entire package to see what sort of asset goodies are in it.

In offline mode the journal database will be created locally automatically. The package sweep will occur if the JournalAlarmTime entry in the INI has been passed in date.

I actually misunderstood the status of the SDK and thought it was out for the general public which is not quite the case. Yoshiro is most likely tired of getting pounded about the same topics and your message probably got lost in the din. Not an excuse, just a probable reason. Best I can say is give us a little more time and in the mean time get to work using the UDK.

There will be a package in the public SDK called:

Screenshot_Poses.upk

IN this package you will find a truckload of SkeletalMeshes of Germans and Russians in various poses (crouched, prone, standing, running, etc). You can use those assets for measurement for player heights at various poses while in the editor. The tank SkeletalMeshes can also be used for measurement.

Sorry if this seems dumb, but I found the Screenshot_Poses.upk file that is mentioned in this thread but I can not access the meshes inside.

How do I get access to these skeletal meshes?

I went into the content browser and can not find that package anywhere.
