Sharp shooter exp problem

When ever i get headshots with anything other than handguns i dont get any experience for it and its really annoying cuz i wanna use the m14 ebr but i also want to lvl up

The Sharpshooter perk can only be leveled up by acquiring headshots with the following:

9mm Handguns (single or dual)
.44 Revolvers (single or dual)
.50 Caliber Handguns (single or dual)
Lever Action Rifle
M14 Battle Rifle
