I'm just wndering how many people actually have this enabled. I have it on for one main reason: that it can be incredibly useful at longer ranges.
With automatic bolting, especially when using the Marksman class, I can very easily lose track of my target with all the movement. Manual bolting allows me to see where my shot landed. Bar the initial recoil, my vield of vision doesn't change when I have manual bolting on, unless I want it to. I know for a fact that this has saved my soldiers life more than once, when I was counter-sniping against an enemy marksman and saw him move after I fired. |

there's no reason to use auto bolting. manual is faster, you can keep track of your target after a shot, you can shoot and stab in short succession, not waste bullets when reloading... manual bolting is T3H $H!T11

There's no reason to use automatic bolting. It incurs a speed penalty outright and it forces you to take an action you often do not want to do, be it for watching the shot land, topping off the magazine without wasting a round, or following up with a melee strike.
Even having the option is just a trap to let new players make a bad decision. |

Heh, it kinda seems like you folks are on a bit of a nostalgia kick. Frankly, I don't see much of a difference between automatic bolting and manual bolting, in terms of actual speeds.
The choice of not bolting immediately has tactical merit. But some folks might forget they never cocked their weapon, which could lead to Bad Things... |

Manual bolt is the way to go.
Just one example that comes to mind which is advantageous with manual bolting is taking quick potshots while using the cover mechanism. "In a trench- popup and shoot- get back down - bolt- move a bit- repeat".

Personally I don't think an autobolt option is even necessary. This is RO after all. |

Tactical advantages don't even apply to me, I automatically double-click to fire anyway, I mostly do it for the modest immersion boost.

Manual bolting by force of habit, and tactical necessity in these maps. Like Hans said fire, pop down and bolt, pop out and shoot again. Or if I miss a shot close range to hell with wasting time cycling the bolt, I'm introducing my target to the pointy end or at least attempting to.

Obviously, the "auto bolting" setting is not for RO1 veterans, it's for people who have played every other WWII FPS game other than RO.

Manual Bolting was one of the first, if not THE FIRST option I checked when I started the game for the first time.
