Default A small discussion regarding Manor maps.

This belongs in the general forums if you ask me.

So,there are 3 versions of Manor-2005,2008 and the retail version.
2005 is simple as hell,1 trader and a small manor.

But the 2008 version is a blast:

There are almost no good "sniping spots" in most KF maps.
And i dont mean staying behind a bench in mountainpass, picking off zeds at a distance,i mean having a "fort" you need to protect. And thats what manor was about,to make a holdout inside of it.If you played 2008 Manor,as a Sharpie you wouldve seen how picking off zeds headed near the front door trough the window on the second floor is the most satisfying thing to do.

But,most people still prefer the moldy caves or the falling apart boathouse...

Not to mention sniping from the retail version of the map is hard as ****,since theyre covered in some plant bullcrap.

Be real men and camp in the manor itself, for once, you a-holes.
I dont care if you like fresh air,or want to have more place for your kiting needs.

NOTE: In Manor2008 it was even more usefull to camp inside the manor since you could just shoot easily trough the gaps in the floor.
Sadly, there arent as much gaps in the retail version...

I'm pretty sure zeds can spawn inside the manor in the retail version.

But only in the first two versions the manor was defendable. They have made it a deathtrap by now, so holding up inside is pretty dangerous. This is due to the new spawning system that the old versions didn't have. Don't know, I like the newer version.

As much as I like manor as a map, I hate the retail manor that much. You see the map is called manor for a reason, its not called the tunnels or the front yard. No one is staying in the manor anymore. Its like someone cut this part of the map. I remember so many great moments defending the main room, with the big table, in KF 2.5. And now what? The tunnels.. what a great idea..

EDIT: or... maybe its not the map but the game is too easy compared to 2.5. Back then, you stay outside - the end, you are dead, deadmeat, pile of **** etc. Now, if you stay inside you will fall a sleep in very boring dreams.

Then it's a good thing retail KF isn't KF 2.5.

People can camp wherever they want, who cares.

Uh, you have it backwards. If you stay inside in retail, you won't survive. Period.

Yes, and surviving isn't supposed to be easy or safe. Hence the "horror" bit in "survival horror."

I don't kite either.

Anyways, everyone has his own playstyle, mine is to survive.
And the horror part is well known to me,its just that im not into going rambo or getting the most kills.I can survive as much as a Commando by running away while trying to heal 3 katana zerkers, and if we choose different paths i have to find a way to meet up with them. Im seriously into sticking toghether for my own character's safety.

When im in the Manor with all doors welded and my team around me,i feel safe. And thats how it should be.

I do agree that camping outdoors is easier, but hey, with the right team we can barricade a useless wreck filled with nasty zed spawns so its working for us.

P.S Whats the name of the actor in this animated pic,i remember seeing him in some TV shows in the past?

I remember those days. When your team see a row of 5-6 fps, and here comes the panic What about now - "A fp? Meh." *1 shot kill* "Next!" Scr was a real challenge too. I miss those days ;(

I don't think I've ever played with a squad that want to stay in the manor, the second floor actually looks like it could be a good point to stay aswell but I don't fancy trying by myself.
