New to KF forums, so I have no clue if this was already suggested...
I suggest that they add a map feature, like in RO where you press O, and a map of the battlefield or level is displayed. I suggest this because not everyone knows a map, and it is hard to work together if some can't find where other players are. Also, the reason I suggest this is because KF is suppose to represent a elite group of soldiers going into an area to cleanse it of any specimens; this means they would know the area layout well and would most likely have a map of it. Small suggestion and feature, but I think pretty important and cool. |

This would be a great addition for if and when any new game types are released.
Objective based gametypes would be greatly enhanced by such a feature. |

Yeah, a map would apply to objective based gameplay, if and when implemented.
But, I think a general map of a level, with or without objectives, with general "schematics" of the level would greatly enhance teamplay. Sometimes, I or someone else cannot find other players; they say I'm at the boilers or what have you, but they can't find them because the map is extensive and not known to them. So, they could tell their teammate that if you look on your map (pressing O) you see that we are at level such and such at such and such location, come here and "hole up." I don't know some maps very well, and after the trader, all my teammates have scurried off to someplace and I can't find them. So I end up being eaten... Just a map, in combination with team-voice communication, one can find the rest of the team more efficiently. Simple, yet integral to improving KF. |

It might be possible to utilize the same "yellow outline" thing Cheetah has in his versus mutator, as a mutator, I don't think that there would be a whitelisting problem.

Great idea, another option to add to that tho, is something simmilar to the arrow feature during innermition. You can click a player and it will show you the fastest way to that player, this way you dont have to keep looking at the map. On the map too, it should show the trader next trader locations for reffrence.

Its funny that the suggestion is so warmly welcomed now, because not long ago someone suggested this exact same thing and everyone were like "Oh but a minimap would ruin the whole mood of the game" because the part of the excitement and horror theme is NOT knowing where your team members are if you are separated.
I have to admit its much more scarier when you are left alone and have no idea where your team is, so your only choice is to either find a safe spot to camp in OR run mindlessly through the map looking for your team (and prolly die trying lol). Still, I dont really care wether this minimap is implemented or not. |

On reflection it does sort of serve as a training difficulty idea. Doubt TWI will have time, but if they do, I think this is a good idea to add

What I suggested would not be a minimap on one's screen, but a map that opens when you press O as in Red Orchestra to see the foundations and layout of the level.
The way KF is advertised is that a group of elite soldiers (6 of them) go into a sector (Farm, Manor, West London, etc.) and cleanse that are of specimens. Because they are elite they surely would have had maps with them to better acquaint with the place they are at. I like how you said trader location can be shown, etc. But for hard/ Suicide players, you can have the map, but with no icons (excepts one's own). By communicating with one's team and looking at your map that you bring open by pressing O or whatever, you can better navigate yourself to their defense location. Also, a map of a level might unveil locations that some haven't discovered yet. I was thinking of a more general/plain map of a level that has grid locations, like A-4, or H-3, etc. Essentially a tactical map... |

Hateme is right about the fear of the game when it comes to being left alone. On a hard or suicidal map, it would be best to not have the NAV tools. By the time the players reach that level, they should have a good understanding of the maps, unless a new map comes out. hehe. I agree with having them, because not only will it help bring more players, but it will help the players gain more knowlegde of the maps. They will need to know for the hard/suicidal maps when monies is scarce.

why restrict it for the lower levels?
how about, just your icon, and that's it? (maybe some place names, like CHURCH or TUNNEL1 in wastlondon) that way, new people would be able to navigate to their team better (yet without it being easy). Restricitng it wouldn't matter for the higher levels, since it's not really neccessary, they should know better than to need it |

like BV said, we're talking the mini objective map that is in RO. not radar, just a basic map with important landmarks/locations so that players can coordinate better.

If not that, why not at least allow people to read the locations of others on shipped maps when they say something, like:
No Glory: (church) Guys, let's hold here! It would be an improvement.....

A minimap would be fine as long as it doesn't show the specimens. That would take all the fun out of it.
