TWI cannot claim that KF is a dead end as far as revenue capabilities with the possibilities for future DLC.
Here are some that I think would be valuable to the community, feel free to post your own but do not troll or spam the thread with stupid ideas or flaming. Character expansions- Firefighter + Female soldier + Civilian + E.M.T. ($1.99) Weapons skins [All]- Chrome ($1.99) Gold Plated ($1.99) Chrome + Carbon Fiber 2tone ($1.99) Reversed Storymode Expansion [Multiple Maps]- Play as Patriarch and fight waves of soldiers to escape and free the specimens. ($4.99) Devastation Expansion [Multiple Maps]- Play with your comrades in a forward-rush scenario as the setting thrown into chaos begins collapsing and exploding, as you must rush through a nonstop onslaught of specimens while staying ahead of the destruction to reach the escape helicopter. ($4.99) |

While I fully support new content for the game, I don't see many of your ideas being realistic. TWI has thus far prided themselves on not charging for DLC that adds game play, only aesthetics in the skin packs. While we may receive or may not receive content updates in the vein of what we've already received (though I have a feeling we'll only see bug-fixing on their horizon), I don't see them jumping at something a lot more complicated in the coding (such as a full blown expansion) when they've got their eyes set on their next project (HoS). Also, TWI's skin designer told me that the biggest problem with adding a female character skin is that they'd have to add female female voice-overs to the game....and let's face it, KF's voice acting isn't the highlight of the game, and they'd have to add a lot more than just one female skin to go through the trouble of re-recording all of those terrible-yet-hilarious one-liner's.
Of course this is all just my own opinion and speculation. Last edited by Kylegdaddy; 03-08-2010 at 05:04 PM. |

Actually one thread is asking for information on future updates to the game. This is a thread suggesting ideas for DLC that would pay for their ability to make the new content. Two completely different subjects.
If such were true, it wouldn't be too difficult to find community members willing to do the voiceovers for free just for the sake of their voice being in the game. Make a full blown 4/4 female DLC pack then to justify having female voices. Ultimately it adds to the variance in the game and will lead to the sale of more copies and a LOT of people will buy the DLC. Last edited by therajuncajun; 03-08-2010 at 04:48 PM. |

If you know A) A girl in B) the dwindling KF population that C) can record studio quality sound in D) a passable British accent and E) is willing to do it for free, then by all means have her get to work in hopes that TWI will meet you half-way. I'll be here, holding my breath.

Lol, there's a decent portion of players on this game from England and I doubt all of them are male. Who cares if her voice isn't the greatest, as long as it's up to par with the ones currently in game. Not too difficult to record semi-studio quality audio with a $30 noise canceling microphone and the free Audacity program. I'm sure their sound mixers could work a little magic on the audio clips to make up for whatever it would lack. The most difficult coding that would be required for the other DLC is making it so you play as Patriarch but that coding is already done. In BlackCheetah's mod you can play as the Patriarch, they'd just have to polish up that coding. As for the soldier AI, there are fake-player mutators as well with pretty damn good AI for the soldiers that they could dumb down to make reasonable NPC's to fight against. Mapping would be the largest issue. I wouldn't mind paying for legit expansion DLC such as those two ideas, but things like additional weapons/perks that would be content for the retail game obviously shouldn't be charged for.

TWI shouldn't pass up the opportunity that is free labor from college students. I guarantee with a little looking around especially at places like Mod Database forums, they could find voice actors and recording artists who are looking to do professional quality work for free just to be able to put it in their portfolio. Having something in their portfolio saying that they did professional quality voice acting for a retail video game that's won Game of the Year would perk up ears at just about any job opportunity they apply to in the future.
Killing Floor, at the time being, is probably my favorite Co-Op shooter for action, whereas the L4D series is my favorite for adventure. Were TWI to shift focus back 50/50 between KF and HoS and begin delving into the idea for a paid expansion that's virtually a new addition to the game (not additional content following suit to the retail game), they would be able to draw interest from a wider variety of gamers. The lore-loving players who play a game for its story would enjoy learning the origin of the Patriarch and getting to sit behind the eyes of the infamous big daddy and gun your way through Horzine Industries to the surface and then plow your way through waves of police and military. Of course it'd have to be balanced so that it is actually a challenge, but it would actually give purpose to the Single Player option in the menu. As for the Devastation expansion idea, it would bring more on-the-run action to the game where you have to think on your feet while fighting against hordes of specimens that blindly push forward towards their doom out of bloodlust and rage. This would further increase the need for teamwork because allowing your teammate to be grabbed and held behind by enemies could ultimately doom the whole team. You'd need to keep your teammates free and safe and actually cover them as they reload. Getting pushed back would mean the end of the team as it won't take long for the collapsing/exploding/etc world behind them to catch up and end it all. This could take place in the basements of Horzine where your team has just set up detonators to put an end to the production of specimens and you must fight your way through the halls and up stairs and to the surface to escape as the walls and ceilings cave in behind you. Could also take place in a factory or something with explosions and fire chasing you through multiple levels of the facility to the roof where you escape. Would make for a really tense, entertaining co-op experience. |

Do it! Just copy down a complete script of every line the male characters say, and then have her record it in the same style. Compile it into a complete package and offer it to TWI, they might use it!

weapon skins are the kind of thing you earn with skill, not buy with a credit card. the whole golden weapon thing concept in gaming overall is stupid anyway. nobody cares that some noob got 100 headshots with an mp4 in cod4 and they wouldn't care that they have them in KF so it's not like you obtain bragging or boasting rights with the skins, so there's no point to them.
