Default True sight mode

Graphic card is displaying lot of effects. But players sometimes turn off some of them due to better visibility. My idea is simple, allow servers to establish true sight mode, so everyone who play must have settings equal to real human eyes (HDR bloom, sun rays ... gamma).

1. resolution should be still adjustable by player.
2. quality of models, textures should be adjustable too.

Gamma should be more problematic because you can change it on monitor too.

In short what I want to say: Its unfair If you keep something due to real view and other one will turn it off. I am not seeing him but he know where I am.

with UE2.5 i wouldnt agree with you. But with UE3 i do, generally computers that can run UE3 can atleast run it with some of the effects on.

However if something like that would be implemented it should be made easy for players and not suddenly get booted from the server. As some computers still simply cannot handle graphical goodness.

Personally i think something like this for private passworded servers only , for competitive play would be nice already.

forcing HDR Bloom is a "no! no!"

when i play ut3 and play a map like "Shangri La" HDR Bloom has a HUGE impact
on my fps:

HDR Bloom= On ---> 25-40fps
HDR Bloom= Off ---> 55-60fps

Mode is setting, that mean not all servers will run with it. If you have lower PC, you dont have right to discriminate others. As owner of good machine I would like to play on server with true sight. Others should play lot of other public servers without setting of true sight.

The thing is that you lock out people based on money and generally people don't like that.

Although i would personally like a system similar to that where a server can lock out certain settings and force certain settings. Purely for exploit reasons. (like seeing shadows through walls and smoke etc).

I'm not all too sure about things like HDR lighting, but when it comes to gamma levels and effects (IE motion blur) should be rather static. God knows I hate getting shot as soon as I go through a pitch black area at far distances only because some jerkwad wants to screw with his eyeballs and crank up the gamma and press his nose to the screen.

I agree that everyone should be forced to play under the same conditions, BUT NOT with highend grafixcards only.

There should be no options like this.

It is just creating bigger problem out of another problem.

If the game is made properly and of decent quality, playing at the lowest or highest graphics settings should not give anyone an unfair advantage.

When I want to play RO, I don't want to look through Realism VS Relaxed Realism servers, then cut those down and look through individual settings, and then look for servers that let me use my PC to its full potential.

That will take forever to get into a game.

Should we make severs that only allow people with 19" monitors or smaller to play on?

Going from 17" to 19" wide screen made a huge difference for me. I could see and hit things that I was not able to see on my 17". I can only imagine how much more of an advnatage someone with a 24" monitor would have over my little 19".

But, that is the reality of PC gaming, and online gaming in general.
