Keep it going guys n gals. KF was lagging about 30 votes behind but in the last 30 minutes has taken the lead with current standings at:

KF - 1642
DCS: Black Shark - 1563

All other contenders are realistically out of the running so it's down to these two Indie developed games. DCS: Black Shark appears to have just got wise to KF's sudden surge and their votes have also started to see a bit of a surge so keep up the voting.

How can you help maintain KF's lead and create a greater buffer zone before the end of day Thursday deadline?

1. Start messaging your Steam and Xfire KF contacts. They're probably not aware of the voting.
2. If you've gifted the game to your buddies like a lot of us have then now's the time to call in some favours.
3. Duplicate the initial post on your clan forums and Steam communities.

It's all about that top slot!

DCS is a joke... I have never heard of it and asked more than 5 of my hardcore gamer friends and THEY'VE never heard of it.

How is a flight simulator KF's main competition unless someone with a sense of humor and a script is ramping up the votes?

The only times you'll know they actually exist is when they join a Battlefield 2 server and sweep the board due to air imbalance...or rage out when someone takes their plane and they can't.

I wouldn't say that anyone is cheating. I'd say that whatever company made Black Shark is doing EXACTLY what TWI is right now: Showing their users the links and encouraging them to vote for 'em...

Hi, here a new forum member and happy player of both Killing Floor and DCS:BlackShark.

I doubt your friends play any fligt simulator , but first of all you need to talk with knowledge and respect for a computer genre that was there even before any shooter (yes, because digital flight simulators started back in the '50s).

DCS Blackshark, made by Eagle Dynamics (not indie by any means) is the public market versión of their simulator made for the russian airforce, with minor differences between both (just some reserved systems I think). It's the most incredibly detailed simulator out there. Next sim will be DCS:A-10C.

Said that, for me DCS is the best sim, Killing Floor the best shooter, but the best overall game is Dragon Age

I wasn't disrespecting flight sims. I love quite a few of 'em. I was merely saying that they shouldn't be surprised to see it getting so many votes because although they're usually pretty silent, there is a pretty big flight-sim community out there...

That said, I've always favored the more simplistic, mindless fun of Killing Floor over games that have a 20-step preflight process I have to go through. I'm lookin' at you, Combat Flight Simulator...

i loved playing the three microsoft combat flight sims back years ago but have not played another one since. i've heard the praises of IL2 and will try it for myself now that i own it ($5 sale woohooo) once i have my old joystick again. flight sims are a niche of their own, just like RO for example, and will have their own crowds of fans. i have no problem with companies/communities promoting their game and votes for awards. this would make it even a greater victory for said game/community as the vote will truely show the voice of the consumers. if more KF players respond and vote compared to voters for other games, all that shows is that more people seem to think KF is a better game......which IS the vote isn't it?

i voted for Killing Floor as best shooter which it should win. i voted for DCS for best sim, which it will win.

the reasons why i voted for KF as the top game for 2009 is because:

• value. lower budget, cheaper cost to consumers. overall an A+ for value. no game can top KF's content/quality/price ratio....none
• popularity. check the steam stats page for KF's numbers. this not even including the huge number of people that checked it out during the free weekend. KF has a larger and more visible following.
• enjoyability. KF is simple, it's easy to pick up, and overall it's just a blast to play. DCS is indepth, complicated and hard to pick up at first. while it still may be fun, it only caters to a small niche of gamers whereas just about anyone that plays video games can pick up KF and enjoy themselves after only a few minutes of play and will continue to be entertained for weeks, months and years.

all other aspects aside, those three criteria are what i was looking for in a game and why KF got my vote. the only sad thing about the VE votes is that from what i understand, people can "cheat" and add in extra votes for their choice by deleting their cookies. i do hope that is not the case and if it is, i am truely disappointed that some people have to exploit the system to win some essentially meaningless award.
