Day 1 patch/fix out and updating through Steam

Ok, as promised, a batch of fixes for the issues on release day. Plus a few other bits we noticed. This should hit the key issues preventing people from getting into the game, so please go play!

Change list:


Server Browser

• Fixed the in game server browser to show all available servers
• Fixed the “Perks-enabled server” icon not showing up in the server browser
• Fixed some server browser filters not working right. Also added the ability to filter servers by “Perks enabled” and by “Difficulty”
• Added the ability to sort the server list by Difficulty
• Servers that cannot be reached because they are behind a firewall will now show up with a ping of 9999 in the server browser. This is the cause of most “connection failed” messages
• Fixed the “Stats Name/Password” popup box that was appearing when it didn’t need to
• Fixed a “Warning” box that was appearing but shouldn’t have been
• Added a message when setting up a listen server notifying the user what ports they must have open on their firewall to host the game.

Other Fixes

• Shortened the default length of time the server waits before the map changes after the players win/lose a game
• Set proper defaults for Difficulty/Game Length. It was defaulting to Beginner/Short, changing this to Normal/Medium
• Fixed dead enemies disappearing instantly on a Listen Server for other players
• Fixed game not showing up in Gamespy
• White list – creating a white list of server mutators that can be used while still allowing perks.

Quick question,

I have made quite a few changes to the .ini file in my dedicated server. Can I simply copy the entire contents over from that, or are there sufficient changes in the new update to make that not work?


Edit: Now all the players are getting 'engine mismatch error' when they try to connect. I presume my server hasn't updated yet. Is this automatic or will I have to reinstall it?

A mod told me he would add this to a list but here is another bug I came across:
While in game if you press escape and in that menu click add this server to favorites, it will say added, but it does not add the server to favorites.

run the hlds update tool again and it will download the needed files.

The game updated itself.

but fixed non of the issues it mentioned.

The patch release should say.

I still cant find 90% of the servers in the list, and the only difference is now. instead of the 100/1000 showing up instantly.

It now takes 5 minutes.

It's now even worst and I have more problems.

How are you guys testing these patches?

Its working a lot better for me.

Tried connecting through the Steam browser and downloaded a"Fonts" file. I was unable to connect due to a mis-match, server side no doubt.
I then connected from the in-game browser to another server successfully.
I have reactivated the DNS option btw.

Phew, that was hot.

Wow, it was released so quickly, and this patch was pretty major in my oppinion, the suddenly disappearing NPCs annoyed me. I'm pleased now

hmm very nice work TWI, very very nice. but im still not happy with the user interface menus and server browser, the presentation of all 3 is sub par, i would like to see a further patch which makes the UI look more appealing and user freindly, seems a waste to make a AWESOME game and then give it a fugly user interface and menus :S

you can imagine that the first focus of TWI will go out to fixing peoples problems, so do not expect a cosmetic patch soon, I'm sure it will come in time but not now

yes im glad theyve got the priorities right ;P and im sure the issues and stuff are racking up on the "to-do" list. but i would still like a cosmetic patch to make it user freindly...also if its even possible, change the server browser to your own-made server browser, or at least make it look less like UT04 XD
