Default Question from an Asia Pacific player

Hello everybody ! I just registered and this is my st post :P

I played RO 3.1 ia long time ago and really loved the game. But I had to give up later, as I'm from Malaysia (in the Asia Pacific region) and all the servers were either in N. America or Europe. I lagged horribly and couldn't play most of the time

My question is, will there be any servers around my region? Or will the servers remain in the same location? I really want to play ROOST badly....

As a side question, am I the only player from the Asia-Pacific region here?? So far, I've only seen players from America or Europe...I feel so alone (

Thanks for any help
Alan

i'm more from the australia/ new zealand zone (nz to be exact).

as for ure situation regarding servers. i'm rather sure that there will be servers at least in australia for this game. just wondering, but do get better pings playing in american servers compared to aussie ones (assuming u have played on an aussie server b4) becuase geographically australia is far closer than america or europe

Yeah, you shouldnt have any problem. As jafa said they'll be a few australia/NZ servers (i think i read one post where a guy claimed he knew of 3 that would be setup). Also, I've never played a game through steam, but I expect they'll have servers dotted thoughout the world.

Aside from that the devs have coded the game so that a ping of 200ms should still be fairly unoticeable.

Yes. There'll be a GameArena server, an Internode server and probably a GameSpace server. You really shouldn't have a problem on US servers though Floogen, I play on them all the time. Up close you're screwed, but at range a skilled player is barely at a disadvantage.

I live in Japan and get a ping of around 150-190 to the US east coast. I am sure there will be servers there. I often play games in Europe (I am European) but the ping is about 300
I would love an Asian server tho.

I'v been having the same problem in China.

When playing RO3.3, the CiA/Core server usually got a 400-500 ping to me, and there was not a local server ever.

But things will change after RO:O is out. There was no RO server in China mostly because the game needed UT2K4, a game most people don't want to install. Now, with our effert of propagating, the Chinese DOD comunity have shown great interest in Ostfront and some tens of servers are waiting for the game.

The Red Storm is ready to sweep our land.

its really up to the people that buy the game to put up servers. So if there are any major clans in your area that play RO then there will be servers.

It sure would be nice to see that part of the world explode with activity. Then RO:Ladder could open up a division for it!

Now that RO will be a retail game i'm sure it'll get the attention of the major ISP's in Australia and they will give it alot of support, the mod version died off (as UT2004 did too actually)

Like I said, there'll be a server from GA, Node and probably GS too. May see some others, but much less likely.
