Default Russian Transportation

Since Sassie said that tank riding wasn't in Ostfront, and the Zis truck appears to have been dropped, I was wondering if the Russians were going to get any form of transport in the game.

Maybe the infantry spawn closer to the middle of the map so they dont have to run after the tank

Maybe the tank drivers will have to learn to slow down and let the infantry keep up. Either that or go roaring off and then gripe because the infantry isn't there to protect them...

(BTW, in WWIIOL I was a dedicated panzer driver)

This just in: Shank's Mare has been approved for use as official Soviet infantry transportation in RO:Ost as an initial feature. See the photograph above for the graphic to be used. Full animation will be implemented, with all three files in use: First Person, Second Person, and Third Person. Crawling is already implemented.

(Re-reads Boo-Boo's post and hurriedly looks around for his 2-pounder QF AT gun.)

My guess is that spawns will be different if you choose tanker or regular infantry. So for example on a map like Barashka the tankers would spawn where they do currently but the infantry would spawn behind the buildings or somewhere close.

So, you mean that infantry will spawn closer to their targets on bigger maps and tanks behind them, or something similart to that? Cool

I was still hoping that mappers could give each sides infantry some mechanized mobility, but hopefully there'll be something in an expansion.

You can. Vehicle factories can be tied to specific spawns, so you can spawn armored cars seperately from main tank spawns to give the infantry spawns mechanised transport.
