Is there some light that you can/want to shed on the process of money finding its way to you via steam and the box publisher? I realise that it is not my business, but i guess its just interesting.

Do you need to fill a quota before money is transferred to you? (My company uses that principle with our partners, HEHE!)

Well, then you will understand that we are not in the habit of sharing such info

Suffuice to say that we are very happy with both our partners and the agreements that we have in place with them.

Presumably it's a hell of a lot better than the deal DICE got with BF:Modern Combat.

Thanks! And it feels great to see people love the work we love to do so much that they pre-order our 'little baby'! I feel honoured

I assure you, the whole world will hear us scream when we reach either of the two

I can understand why you guys don't want to share the numbers, but we're all curious.

So would you say you guys are satisfied with the sales so far? Overjoyed?

Well I've been snooping around the web looking at various sites, and the response has generally been great so far. The trailer seems to have done it's job at least :P "Wow! Pre-ordered!"

Yeah the trailer really made a difference!
I've posted about RO:OST before on our website, and people ahve said "yeah looks good", but now that they've seen the trailer, it's all "WOW that's amazing! when is it out? "

Best of luck to all the devs in future games

Yeah i posted a news item on our homepage along with the trailer in our media player @ http://www.c3ll.net - already 5 in the clan pre-ordered it!

Buying this game feels much more different to buying anything else, as you really feel the developers will reap most of the rewards rather than a greedy publisher!

Anyone wonders how anyone of those People will feel who did negotiate with Tripwire but didn't make the Deal

I mean we know RO, will get over the 100,000 Mark easily

Well, the "traditional" model has the publisher keeping the vast bulk of the earnings until they have recovered all their "costs"; then the royalties to the developer start to creep upwards - slowly!

In our case, being "different", we are self-funded. This puts us in an unusual position - we are personally taking all the risk, but the publishers are in a much more "friendly" state.

But whatever the actual deal, credit card pre-ordering eventually converts into cash in Valve's bank account. Sales in store work their way through the retailer and back up the distribution chain to Destineer. As the publishers accrue actual cash, then they can start to pass on their share - its all pretty standard accounting stuff (i.e. boring!).

As for the details of royalty percentages and all that - nah, that remains our "secret" for the time being. Maybe when we write the book - "How Tripwire revolutionised the games industry".... lol
