Default Sorry but I HATE the new auto-pickup settings

Am I the only person who think the auto-switch weapons a big pain?

SO many times I want to pick grenades and end up picking up some gun I do not want. Other times it just does not let me pick up nades even when there are no guns around to get in the way. I have been killed countless times because of this.

But the main thing is the fact that hitting use suddenly switches guns.

The old method of having throw my weapon down PURPOSELY before picking up a new gun made so much more sense. That way one was sure to get the grenades or pistol and not a have to worry about picking up some rifle they do not want, having to toss it far away to get it out of the pile before they get to what they really want.

My only gripe is sometimes it's impossible to take something without putting what's above it away. Say you have nades under MG-34 and you can take those untill you pick 34 and throw it away. It's just painfull in combat.

I don't mind it most of the time, but I've definately been killed trying to sort through a pile for an STG ... I just like the one icon for ammo, as opposed to the yard sale that happened before

Yes I understand what you mean, ive often switched weapons by mistake, BUT the new system is far better in a way becuase picking up weapons isnt no were near as hard as it used to be.

The all in one ammo is much better

There are times when a faust is on the ground and it won't let you pick it up. Then all of a sudden you can. Is this lag?

I just want to know why you are sorry you dislike a system. Heh, that ammuses me. If you don't like it , no need to apologise, just drop it into the idea and suggestion forums (I believe there is one or two threads on this topic allready)

Its not great, but its not that bad...

Both systems have their pros and cons

I have gotten killed previously after

-Dropping my old gun, picked up the new one and took too long picking up all the ammo around it.

-Swapping gun, then reswapping because I missed the ammo, then reswapping again, then reswapping again, this time I move to the left and drop it,
Pick up new gun, pick up ammo and get killed lol

if the old and new gun is too close, drop it... or drop the gun you dont want before picking up the new one to make sure you dont swap 5 times...

I am alright with either or... its all the same and there will never be a solution that makes EVERYONE happy... so... Dont worry, be happy

Everything needs to be more spaced out when it hits the ground so nothing is ever on top of something else (unless a bunch of guys get killed in the exact same spot which would be rare).

I turn to my left or right, throw my arm, then pick up the object of my desire.

I agree with Fledermaus. I think the new system is at least as awkward as the old system and not really an improvement. If anything, it seems to take more time and deliberation to pick up what you want. If you're not careful, you end up picking up the wrong item and having to do it over again. For example, I've tried to pick up a couple of grenades from a dead enemy only to accidentally swap my SVT for a K98. I have to say I even liked the old ammo pickup better with individual clips and magazines, because it was easier to tell at a glance what was what.

I find the new system to be a huge improvement over the old one, however I would like to not automatically drop my weapon when selecting another. I should only be able to pick up a new gun if I've dumped mine previously. This would make it much easier to just pick up the nades/ammo/whatever that is on the floor around it.

The ammo pack system is good, but switching weapon automaticly is not.. The stuff often lies close to eachother so I just aim and click real fast while picking up stuffs, but I often end up switching to a rifle while I have a smg... It would be good if you could decide yourself in the options what pickup system to use

It's frustrating trying to pick up certain items lying on the floor, as they are sometimes too close eachother or ontop of eachother

The "drop your weapon and then pick up the new weapon"- system worked better for me

keep the ammo in packs and let the person choose if they want auto switch or not. there are tons of games out there since 2000 that allow you to auto pickup or not just impliment that into the game.

Sometimes trying to pick up the rifle you want you pick up the wrong thing and you can go in circles until it looks like a 3 stooges show.

You can not go wrong with keeping the ammo in packs that is what everyone agrees is best and letting people turn on and off the auto weapon switch.

What i would like to see is the ammo pick up system we have now (ammo pouches) and the option to disable avto swap the weapon. So basicaly the old weapon pick up system with new ammo pickup system. Atleast make it optional to disable auto swap.

I think we all want it as optional. The auto weapon swap's a nightmare - not for switching weapons when you intend to, but for swapping your weapon instead of picking up that shiny faust/satchel/grenade. You end up a sitting duck as you frantically try to get your own weapon back and then hunt around for the ammo pouch, hoping not to accidentally switch guns again in the process.

There are some who like the system, but for those of us that don't, a simple extra tickbox in the options menu (next to the class names option'd be ideal! ) would be tops.

I agree with the OP on this, it gets really frustrating in combat picking up another rifle when all i want is the nades.

That would be an excellent solution.

I do this too so I don't have to risk my old gun falling near the new gun/ammo. Still defeats the object of having the system in the first place - its worse than the old system for swapping weapons AND picking up other items.
