Here's a bit of gameplay footage of me using my xbox controller from a very recent game in Call of Duty Black ops: (18 kills, 8 deaths, 2 killstreak kills)
Black Ops pc: Xbox controller gameplay - YouTube
Somewhat saddening because I had great match on a huge map called array using a skorpion where I went 18/7 with 3 across map kills, yet it wouldn't show up in my recent games for a replay.
The vid posted is only posted to show you pc players that there are some good gamepad users out there who don't need aim assist, perhaps I'll try to get TF2 gameplay too,

Well I'm by no means knocking you, but that video, compared to what's required in RO2 & RO1 & Mod, you're going to have some adjustments to make.
For running and gunning you managed to get an average about about two kills per death, which isn't too bad for using the controller and being pretty much in a team deathmatch situation.
Those tactics certainly won't work well in an RO scenario, and I could see the stiffness in your aim & movements from the controller. Most of what I saw in regards to kills, were a few iron sight shots, which is good, but also a lot of spraying and praying & going out rambo style.
The problem with the iron sights part, as an example, look at 26 seconds into the video when you shoot through the truck. It's clearly seen that due to the controller, your shot went too far left and by the time you got centred, you got shot. And while you were centering, you were also unloading bullets in the standard laser shot of bullets you get from a controller, in hopes of getting on target it time.
When it comes to the differences between controllers and mouse/keyboard, it boils down to reflexes. You have more accurate reflexes with a mouse and keyboard. And once you picked up on how it all works, that score very well could have been 4-6 kills per death at the very least.
Now by all means, if you want to use your controller and you feel you are doing just fine, then that's all that matters. It's your game after all..... but eventually, I would strongly suggest you practice with the keyboard and mouse for a bit and see how it works.
I mentioned before that I use the arrow keys, rather than the WASD standard.
I do this because not only are the keys more spread out, but it does feel closer to being a controller setup.
