Default MAP WIP- EAGLES NEST (New Images & Video)

Okay I have been putting many hours into the Eagles Nest and have made some changes/improvements based on feedback, observations of other maps, and the fact that I am learning SDK as I go (first map I have made). I have significantly opened up the playing area and have continued to add more detail, cover, concealment, and improved lighting. I am really hoping to get a B1 out by next week but it will definitely need more work as my first release will not have BOTS and some other items will be added later (i.e. cover system).

Look forward to getting more feedback once the map is out...thanks everyone in advance for your support and encouragement.

For those of you who have already released a map my hat goes off to you as I know how many hours you have put into those maps....great job you guys.

Thanks guys for the support and positive feedback...all capture points and classes up and working now just need to finish out some detail work on the actual Eagles Nest ("C") and it will be ready for testing. At some point I may need some help with cover nodes & bot placements as those elements still get me stumped....that will be for future updates.

Looks awesome Shake. You've really captured a rather gritty and eerily dark feel. Great job.
That old lady is super creepy.

That's weird. I would have thought we'd be able to copy and paste like we can with stock maps. Maybe I need to save out a separate upk or something. I've actually never done it before (udk is still a bit of mystery to me especially when it come to it's files and structuring)
Anyone know the best way to do it? Do I plonk all my meshes into a new scene and just save as upk?

Looks nice. How's the lighting on the player models? Check if the players aren't glowing in the dark, with the proper shadows. I personally hate seeing a player glowing in a really dark room.

Not sure yet until I get some other people on but I have enough cover and concealment (trust me ) that even glowing players will be able avoid detection if they know what they are doing.

Thanks Harley your map inspired me to get busy on Eagles Nest again...First I felt strange about using your tree and looking back probably should have asked you first. I was able to get it copied into my map but when I went to save with your trees it wouldn't let me. It said something about not being able to use "cooked" assets or something.

Glad you like the old lady on the firing squad having her last smoke...

Ah!! I remember seeing this on your site a while ago! Was wonderign what was happening.

I just have one thing to say though: A good skybox and dynamic lighting makes the map oh so more enjoyable. I know you don't know the editor much (niether do I) but I hope you prioritize yourself on that when you're finalizing.

If there is one thing I have spent many, many, many hours on is the lighting. That is the main reason the release of this map has taken so long is getting the right lighting especially when dealing with a night map. The pictures really don't do the map justice when it comes to the lighting as there are many nuances of lighting throughout the map and I really tried to ensure it was not to light/dark to achieve the right tension/balance. I will know once players get on and try it out and the I can adjust if necessary....thanks!

Not at all mate, I gave permission for all to use so no need to ask. Enjoy.

Ok they must have to be in a separate upk thingy. I'll try and sort that out for you asap.
At least when you get them you'll be able to use the replace all function (very handy) by selecting the trees you have in the scene, select my tree in the browser, right click in the scene and say 'replace with bla bla'. I love that function, saves a lot of time.

Thanks again Harley!
