Why Iīm thinking that the zoom we have in RO2 is unfair?
Itīs easy to show, look at this pictures (ultra settings). Without zoom you can see the buildings in the background and you canīt see any enemy there. http://forums.tripwireinteractive.co...1&d=1343599050 On the second picture (with zoom) you see the building, and you are able to see some enemys (if there are some). http://forums.tripwireinteractive.co...1&d=1343599050 How could it be fair when you canīt see the enemy in a building far away, because the building (or cover) is not on your screen without zoom? So I say: No zoom (same view) for everyone would be the best and it would be absolutly fair for everyone. Maybe this pictures will help to win some people for the "No-Zoom-Side" (by the way: this pictures are made on a Classic-Mode server) |

We need a "beating a dead horse" icon for this forum

Frankly I dont know what the correct solution for zoom is. I stopped playing classic even though I prefer it simply because my mouse skips specific pixels (and pixel hunting isnt enjoyable to me)
at the same time I can see why people wouldnt like zoom tricky

At regular run around settings you are actually zoomed back -
so you have a wider angle of vision like in real life. When you hit the zoom feature it gives you the real perspective that isn't zoomed back - which is what you need when shooting anyway |

![]() I suspect zoom actually hurts you for spotting there. Player visibility isn't related to the LOD of terrain around them. If the cover is getting culled, but a player in that cover is still within your relevancy, it'll look like they're just standing out in the open. Free wallhack. |

So is like if without zoom, i only watching my surondings and front, but when i zoom, is like i concentrating my vision (or the soldier vision) to one place? sounds right. Is remind me of people yelling about getting everthing black and white when someone is having a cloud of bullets next to him. To me is a good way to simulate the fear and panic of the poor soldier is having, reflecting to the player, because the player is not gonna fear to get out of the cover and try to shoot someone, even if he die triying, but with the black and white (and maybe hand shaking? i donīt remember), is make the player act like the soldier there, and hide ultil it is get better, and make supress fire more efective. |

^ I love where he takes his anger out on. And yes, this has been debated over and over again.... I prefer to have proper proportion displayed on screen to what I'd see in real life, as opposed to pixel hunting like times gone by. And yes, in the original post's images, you can see the buildings in IS mode, yet not in regular view... but considering you can see further in IS Zoomed/Focus mode while losing a lot of your vision on the sides... it seems fair to me.

Ok, then sniper rifles should be removed from the game as well.

Agreed with the OP. It's unfair, but nowadays it's hard to find people who doesn't want zoom, beacause without zoom they can't kill & kill & kill. The good value of zoom is the zoom used in Darkest Hour (because those values embody perfectly your eyes focus on something, currently it is unfair since the zoom level is too important) Nobody will change my mind, quote me and then "destroy" me with something like "oh yes but with no zoom 50 meters in game looks like 100 meters IRL, bla bla..." and make me laught please. Counting meters is f****ng pointless in a videogames (or a simulator, or RO isn't one) A game like RO2 has to be fair. Last edited by Korn-Y; 07-30-2012 at 09:53 AM. |

You can think what you like, but the OP is wrong, it's an LOD issue less than a Zoom issue.

But if you are sure the OP is wrong, I'm sure the OP is right then, Zoom is unfair. |

This thread is a recipe for disaster
. OP is mixing up two issues/topics:- zoom and how it affects gameplay - LoD, which is sometimes too strict and causes objects to visibly disappear As suggested above, OP should report the LoD issue (which is a map issue) in the bug forum.

As others have stated before, that looks like an LOD (Level of Detail) issue. There are some minor instances through out the game where this is apparent. Make a proper thread within the bug section.
