Hello folks, I just tried to update my server which I created with the SteamCMD instructions in both the tripwire and Killing Floor Wiki. Up until this server update, everything worked perfectly fine and there hasn't been any file deleted since the last working update. Today however, I get this:
http://i.imgur.com/WTVY7.png I've tried getting this .dll file by searching and placing it in the SteamCMD folder as well as my Windows system folder but nothing changes. I've even deleted the server files and attempted to re-install the whole thing and I'm still getting this error. Google search doesn't seem to turn up anything useful so... any ideas? Apologies in advance if this has already been brought up before. EDIT: Never mind, seems all that had to be done was closing Steam before running the .bat file... I could've sworn I updated the server once with it open... oh well. Moderators can close this if they wish. Last edited by Sirius; 07-26-2012 at 02:31 AM. |

I am getting this same error, I have reinstalled the steamcmd, ran it from different directories, tried fresh install into different directory. I rebooted my server to ensure that no steam services were running on it at all.
error still persists, and I am at wits end http://dmmclan.net/KFupdaterError.PNG |

If you kept reading it also says "A Steam Engine Instance already exists"

I can assure you that a Steam app of any kind is not active when receiving this error, no steam processes running, and a clean boot to ensure , and this error still persists.
I inadvertently started another thread on same topic waiting for moderation... http://forums.tripwireinteractive.co...ad.php?t=82142 |

If you're still getting the same error open task manager, click the Processes tab, sort by name or description, and end process for any instance of Steam

There are no steam processes running, that is un-arguably not the issue
