Default Blew up Panzer IV using T34's MG:

Yesterday I decided to play Gumrak with a small group of players and a pile of bots.... it was actually pretty fun and loved seeing all the flaming tanks scattering the hills.....

Yet during my game play, I noticed that I killed three Panzer IV's by shooting them with my Machine Gun on my Turret.

What happened in each case was that I first hit each tank with an AP Round, which normally makes the bots stop to target whoever is attacking them.

While I was waiting for my next AP Round to reload, I decided to fire off my MG at them just for fun..... and suddenly the tank blew up.

It didn't show the kill notification that I or someone else blew them up with my or their tank (nor did I get a kill assist) but it did notify me that I got 3+ points for killing player from objective zone and I got an extra +2 points for vehicle kill.

No bot or player was exposed out of a hatch to be hit by the MG fire, so killing the player by MG fire wasn't the case and if it was, I usually get the kill notification.

My ability to reproduce this has been kind of random, but noticed this occurred three times out of six tanks in the span of 3-4 minutes while near the train station cap zone.

I don't know if it has something to do with my AP Round damaging a section of the armour and then an MG round hit a critical spot, blowing it up or what.... but it was very odd to see occur.

I even mentioned it to the other players when it happened..... then a few seconds later the third tank blew up from MG fire..... very odd indeed.

As additional detail, I did not take screen shots at the time (didn't think of it) but I am using this image I found online to better represent what I did and at what angle:

^ The angle was a bit more towards the side when I hit the Panzers. The Red arrow is where my AP Rounds hit (approx) and the yellow strip is the typical area/angle I sprayed the MG fire from my turret after the AP round.

Could have been possible there was only a few crew members inside the tank, and your shot killed the last few. There is a slight delay between the crew being dead and then the tank blowing up (Like 3 seconds or so). Could be a coincidence that you fired the MG during this time.

I thought of that, but usually there's a kill notification along with the additional points that pop up in the top right of the screen.... in each of these cases, that never happened, but I still got the above mentioned points and this only has occurred when the above was done with the MG.

I guess tanks might be handled differently for bots, I've certainly noticed that Bot tanks seem more volatile, one shot kills seem much more common on both tanks, even from the front when controled by bots rather than player controled tanks, which seem to take two or three if you don't hit the weak areas.

This is caused by the bot tanks not being on pylons. I found the same thing recently while building my tank map.
