Weapon layouts are not like in a CoD game. in CoD you choose whatever weapon you want lol.

CoD indeed may have completely different structuring, but he needs to attach something he has low regard for to give himself some reasoning as to why he dislikes said features. Doesn't have to be true, just has to be something of poor taste that can be associated.

Realism mode is more like a mix between Battlefield-style games and Red Orchestra 1. Classic is more akin to RO1, which itself could be argued is a middle-ground between Battlefield and ArmA in terms of realism/complexity.

I´ve been playing Realism on 2.Fallschirmjäger server (the only one popupated entirely by human players under 200 ping ( I live in Uruguay, work took me away from NY ) and well, what can I say? I like it. I have not tried classic yet, have yet to find a server without bots at a decent ping to play on, but as soon as I find one, I will play it.

One annoying thing I noticed is that if you press reload repeatedly, the animation does not play, yet the weapon is reloaded anyway, is this a known issue?

It's all a matter of opinion, and since everybody is tossing out their own, imo, Realism in RO2 is nowhere near Battlefield, which I should know since I despise Battlefield with a hateful passion, yet enjoy Realism.

And Classic is indeed similar to RO1, in that your character is a weak, lazy windbag that can't hold a rifle steady enough for an accurate shot and running 20 feet makes you have to suddenly stop to catch your breath because those three double quarter pounders you just ate are catching up to you.

Again, all a matter of opinion & sh*t can be flung at all game modes for whatever reason

The original statement another member in here is correct.... try all the game modes to determine which one better suits your own tastes & likes.

Listening to others in here and their opinions will not give you an informed decision on what you yourself will enjoy.

don't worry so much about ping. try the servers with higher ping too. you will probably be surprised at how well the game plays with high ping.
yes. they know about the reload bug. when you try and mantle things, you need to just press the button once and let it happen as well. your avatar gets a wierd hiccup and drops back down to where he started if you push the button twice. and that button that makes you cover, pick stuff up, you can seperate those functions and bind them to seperate keys if it bugs you.

I hope, really really hope this game is as good as the first. I had a huge learning curve on RO1, since well, anyone who played it then knows it had nothing, nothing to compare to other FPS shooters, even in the genre.
Well, it is different than RO1. It is much more streamlined and have incorporated a lot more features that are present in generic FPS titles in order to make it appealing to the mainstream. The command system is replaced with a simple command radial, you cannot enter/exit vehicles anymore, the map design is more restricted and streamlined with ''Get back to the combat zone'' messages, there is more spawnpoints to ensure instant action, XP, perks, unlocks is added, you can't attach/detach bayonets anymore, ammo pouches is removed; instead all weapons have their magazines magically built inside them. They there's other things aswell that really puts the word historical accuracy to shame.

Contraproductive as it was, a good amount of this was removed or tweaked in in GOTY edition, but a lot is still present in the game. Whatever mode you play is really up to taste. In terms of realism both modes have its ups and down. Realism is very fast paced, built on XP, unlocks, and perks, while Classic is more slow paced but miss out many good features in Realism, and generally does not appeal to me that much. Realism is the standard mode for the game, while Classic and Action Mode is just scrapped together as a leftover hence why both these modes are almost dead.

Its just a rushed mode. You can' even exit vehicles yet. Not because you need to because the maps are so small. Speaking of the game itself its been improved in many ways but unfortunately, its one step forward and two steps back if you're looking for a spiritual sequel to OSTFRONT.

But play the game for yourself and see what you think. Personally I am waiting for the next installment Rising Storm.

Pretty much everything you've said above I've addressed a number of times before, so I won't delve into much of the above, but I'm assuming the above is more criticism than anything else.

In regards to the weapons "Magically" having all the ammo within them when dropped, if that's supposed to be a jab at RO2 not being very realistic, well neither is it realistic that when a player dies, their weapon and their ammo pouch magically drops off their body.

And back in the mod, when a player died, not only did they drop their weapon, but they magically dropped every single clip & magazine (not in a pouch)

^ None of the above is anymore realistic than the other & you're just nit picking.

If you want realistic when it comes to ammo and weapons, you should have to take several seconds to search a body to get the ammo & the weapons that weren't in their hands when they were shot...... but then gameplay suffers greatly by doing this and nobody would see any value in risking their lives for longer than they already do.

I seem to end up finding more Action mode servers than any of the other modes.... Realism being 2nd. So I wouldn't say Action is almost dead.

Guess it depends on where you are on the planet and the servers available in your area.

And while you've been waiting for a "Spiritual Sequel" to Ostfront... I've been waiting for a "Spiritual Sequel" to Combined Arms.... which Ostfront didn't measure up for me..... where RO2 does.

Once again, personal preference of course.
