I like this video, specifically the parts with the drawn map layouts. Shows that the maps are open with multiple insertion points and the player will have freedom to encircle or move in, and then back to the outskirts of the map if needed.

Here's a little insight into UE3 licensing..... Back when we tried to get the license there was no free UDK and Epic was standing solid on their traditional licensing criteria. I won't go into actual costs but it was more than $100k and less than $1million. I had a good relationship with Mark Rein and over a period of about a year convinced him to support smaller devs better. He relented and worked with us on something that we could manage, so we signed the license deal. Fast forward to now and with the free UDK and UE4 on the horizon, Devs can get full source UE3 for a lot less that that minimum number I mentioned along with some back end royalties.

So the engine licensing landscape is VASTLY different now than it was when we dealt with it.

Can't argue there. But funding was always elusive. I fail to see how that makes us deficient or incapable of making Ground Branch.. when proper funding is available.

All I can say is if you hope we prove you wrong then step up and support us. Don't sit around and ridicule.
At least they told us they have an office, chairs, and a couple of computers. BFS was always very poor in communication to the community and getting people interested in GB. Only now has BFS tried to change that. Funding wasn't elusive for TakeDown.

They were certainly not poor with communications. John has been personally answering many questions of mine on the forums for a few years now. They have always been up front with what they were doing and frequently participated in detailed discussion threads.

I don't see how communications can be better.

They did their fair share to get people excited through the news letters and whatnot.

Its not been funded...

I put it $25 and I got it back but I hope it shows that I do care about realism...

Well, we didn't make it this time but thanks to all those that supported us on the Kickstarter.

Time to regroup and figure out the best way to charge ahead!

hey Json, as I posted on your forums if there were some kind of regular donation I'd take that. I don't have an amazon account + american credit card and such, I'd do 100-200$ via paypal in about the time it takes me to type in my 20+ char password...

You realize the Kickstarter has ended and failed, right? I'm sure they'll still take donations though how they move forward with funding and development is still being discussed on their end.

I wish them the best of luck.

Hey guys.... In our effort to make good decisions moving forward we put together a quick survey that I would appreciate people taking. It's only 6 questions and shouldn't take more than a minute or two.

Thanks for your support!

I haven't look at this thread before I think so I had no idea about this, but if an american credit card or something was required it would not have been possible for me to give away some money anyway.

I have completed the survey though.

Any updates? I saw that the kickstarter did not succeed in its goals and that's a shame. But unfortunately most people aren't even aware of the game. It would be awesome if the marketing really could get a push.

Reminds me very much of a flight sim loadout screen. I've been waiting for such a thing to come to infantry/soldiers for a while. The R6 and SWAT games were simplified, though got the job done. But this takes it to another level.

I hope that there are hitboxes for ammo storage and a player's weapon. If you take a round to the chest and it hits the mags you can kiss them goodbye.

Sadly, I do not have much hope for Ground Branch. I would hate for all of the work to go to waste but it has been in development for so long and they still do not have a publisher. The Kickstarter campaign did get them some attention/interest, though I am not sure if they got someone to fund the rest of their development.

Takedown is progressing nicely though. In a worse case scenario, it would be nice if some of the GB devs did some work on Takedown. Both are using UE3.
