Default Bot AI

They went from wall hacking aimbots to occasional wall hacking aimbots. A great improvement but definitely needs improvement still. I can't count how many times a bot randomly 360 headshoted me. This is ridiculous. Also, the bots run in zig zags making them harder to hit long range than a normal player.

yes, its annoying, but considering the average performance of bots wich makes it hard to drop below a 10:1 K/D-ratio i can live with it.

haha this..... so much this, only time you should have to deal with bots is if the server has them enabled for under a certain player count.

other than that stop farming xp and play with humans, youll enjoy it more. and gain better skills, people (mostly) not being predictable like bots...

maybe
no, but srsly, bots are just plain stupid, and most of the time they even shoot like crap (esp. on short ranges) and as long as nothing is changed there without their occasional blitzsniping over the shoulder you would hardly notice they are present.
If that would be good or bad can be debated, but either make them smarter or remove them alltogether cause by simply taking away the only thing that can get them some kills you could as well place some of these fellows on the maps:

I definitely do try to play with humans, but I'm not guna sit for 20 minutes trying to get into the 2-5 servers that are always packed. So I have to deal with the bots in the servers with less players. In addition playing with bots are a great way for new players to try and get the hang of the game when they're not doing 360 head shots all day!

It actually depends on the server settings. If server is set to hero level, then you will get headshot a lot by the bots. They are actually a bit annoying on hero level. At veteran level they will aim a bit less accurate and that results in less headshots. They are too easy to kill if the server is set below veteran level.

I'm pretty sure that 360 head shot ability (which I hate as well) has to do with them having a zero ping vs. your own ping amount and they've already turned around to aim & shoot at you before your system registered they turned around.... looking like they pulled some matrix stunt.

Perhaps their reaction time in firing should be delayed somehow to make them act a bit more "human" with their reflexes.

The thing that bugs the crap out of me with the bots is their insta-melee killing.

I'll be shooting at some guy and this bot comes right around the corner beside me shouting "BLAAAA MEEE'LAAANAAAAAA!!!!!!" or something and *SMACK* I'm dead.

Or I'll see them coming, get ready to melee them, yet their bot reflexes are faster than my reflexes "BOCH'KRUGA MEEE'DUNGA BUNGA!!!!!!" *SMACK* I'm dead again.

Or I'll see them coming and try to shoot them, miss and "JOHN'COUGAR-MELLENCAMP!!!!!!" *SMACK* I'm dead in one hit.

Drives me fk'n Nuts!!!

I don't mind the bots most times.... as a Commander with a useless team, ordering them to follow me makes them play better than most humans when going for objectives.

If you melee at the same time, they hit your arms and you can get another shot in!

The bots are a great exercise for your aiming with your boltrifle.

I am sure we can all agree on one thing. Little or almost no effort was placed into the AI for the bots. I think this has to do with a lack of an AI programmer and the hiring of an outside company that seemed to halfass the job.

If you don't care about the discussion or what people are interested in, WyTF are you in here for?

Contribute to the discussion or move on.

I can't agree.

Did you ever play the bots in RO1 or ROCA?

RO2 bots are leaps & bounds above those ones.... they still need improvement, but they obviously had a good amount of work done to them compared to their previous bots.

And honestly, I find these bots in RO2 a hell of a lot better than those scripted AI you find in other big FPS's single player games that always end up doing the same thing over and over again that they become predictable and replayability is nill after 1-2 play throughs.

No need to get testy....i think my comment was spot on target. if you are going to play with bots, then you can expect to be killed by them at some point. Everything they do is scripted. They will not, nor never act like humans. The fact that they can spin and shoot you while moving away is no big deal. Once they notice you, they have to have abilities to be able to challenge you. They are just so much fodder anyway. If they snap shoot you, they arent going to care if you get mad and rage quit...Sure AI`s can be improved, but they are never going to be more than what they are.

And, by the way to answer your question, im here in this thread to see why people are whining about bots.

Jebus, if RO2 bots are leaps and bounds above the RO bots then I am glad I never played any bots in that game. Thankfully, there were always plenty of servers and players when that game was popular and beginning.

If the bots were even half as good as the ones in, let's say, Ghost Recon, then I would be happy. I can't imagine having fun playing single player ro2 with those dumb bots.

I don't really make a stink about it because AI in itself is very complicated, but I would like to have fun playing against the computer which I can not in their current state.

My apologies then, it just sounded like you wanted to shut down the conversation and imply that anybody wanting to tweak or focus on work with the bots were lame.... to put it nicely.

Everything they do is indeed scripted, but scripted in a lot more detail than most other AI/Bots you find in most other games..... there's just a few things that these bots require to be tweaked to be a bit more "Human" in their responses.

There's only really four major issues with the bots:

• Snap head shots when they're not even facing you.
• Ninja Melee Attacks that pretty well kill you in one hit every time & very difficult to avoid or counter due to their reflexes.
• Getting stuck in certain areas of maps.
• Not following Attack/Defend orders very well except for "Follow Me" and "Go Here" orders, which they respond to pretty well.
